that was fucking awesome the letterman performance. Excited as hell to see them March 10th. They are playing the studio room at warehouse live (holds maybe 200 people). This is gonna be awesome.
I know I will probably get flamed for this but the Philly show last night had way too much of a lull in the middle of the set. While the new album might be good to chill out to, it seems to be a buzzkill in their setlist. The band sounded great and Erika was belting out the songs with the best of them, but they really need to re-tool the setlist. I actually couldn't blame some folks that started talking during the show, and that is one of my biggest pet peeves! My friends who I went with said the same thing and we all get to a bunch of different kind of shows. I enjoyed their show a few years back at the North Star Bar much more...
One of the reasons I enjoy checking the Forum is being introduced to new bands. My thanks to all on this thread for introducing me to the Heartless Bastards. A very good band indeed!
they just posted a free daytrotter session! while you're there you can grab sessions by Brad, Iron & Wine, Wilco & many other great bands/artists. enjoy!!

Show was Amazing. This room they played at Warehouse (the studio), holds like 500- 1000 people. Maybe 200 were there. I was in the front row. Picked up "Arrow" and "Stairs and evelvators", and got both of those signed by the band. Got a picture with Erika.
I really liked the "Arrow" songs live. This band just rocks!, and then when they jam in the middle of a song wow.
Didn't get a setlist, Erika only had one up there, someone else got it, but that's ok. Played 18 songs. Mostly all of "Arrows" the "Mountain" was played, and probably a few that I haven't heard yet. I haven't had a chance to listen to any of the other albums.
One minor thing that happened, After the show, the band is trying to back out of the lot and couldn't get the trailor to move, it was dead stuck, so we had to help lift and pull the trailor over the speed bump, so we got to help the guys out a little bit.
I really forsee Big things happening for this band in the future. Really strong musicianship, and love how they incorporate rock, and acoustic country folk sound in the music.
Matt is right: Seeing them in a small venue is just awesome. I did see them at ACL 2009, but the club shows are just awesome, always love those.
They're all really nice people...genuine & very laid-back. Glad you got a chance to meet them! I agree...I think they're going to be bigger the next time they tour. Stoked that so many people are getting into them. When we first saw them play ACL in 2007, they had the 11am (or 12pm) slot early in the day. They've busted their asses & deserve all the good things that are happening to them.
