One of the things I love about PJ is the different setlists night in & night out. But Unthought Known keeps getting played every night. Not a big fan of the song

    I understand that not all songs appeal to everybody but I would say the majority of the people would be happy to hear it played at a show they attend.

    Unthought Known is my favorite Pearl Jam song, actually my favorite song of all time! When I see Pearl Jam I PRAY they play it for me! Keep on rocking UK in every setlist PJ!!!!! :mrgreen:

    I wasn't a fan when I first heard it but it grew on me.
    Think it's a very solid tune!!

    There will always be people hearing a certain song for the first time no matter how many times they play a song in a row! Also Unthought happens to kick all kinds of ass live, IMO, so if it's any song to be repeating, it's a pretty great one! And really delivers live, became a huge fan of it after hearing it live- really had an impact on me at the MSGs last year!

    I'd have to respectfully argue that Unthought Known is the best track on Backspacer. However, if I were attending consecutive shows I'd probably want that space filled with something I hadn't heard previously.

    A beautiful song in my opinion, I love how it builds. As far as live shows, I'd rather hear any PJ song, regardless how often played, than the setlist be that one song shorter.

    I actually really like this song, its very contemporary and has shown how the band has evolved with the times. I prefer the album version over the live version mainly because of the prominence of the piano part in the album version that isn't heard well live.

    That being said....why the heck wasn't it released as a single??? I thought it was geared to be the perfect follow up to Just Breathe, and could've been their biggest hit since Last Kiss. But yet they chose Amongst the Waves instead, which is a good song, but not at all in the same league as Unthought Known. A missed opportunity I think.

    I agree. I think it would have done very well.

    Having said that, PJ hasn't always released singles that one would expect them to.

    I love Unthought Known, it reminds me of the great poet Robert Frost. When I heard it live Sydney 2009 right in the middle of the song, I got falconed by an enormous beach ball! :lol::lol: my sister laughed so hard she had tears in her eyes! :lol::lol: When we went to Ed solo show in March, Unthought Known started and my sister lent over to me and said, "Remember the ball?". :lol::lol:
    I hope they play it forever! :D
