  • Am I crazy or did PJ play a tune or 2 that didn't make the bootleg? I kind of remember a couple rockers that I didn't recognize (and I'm not a 'radio hits' kind of fan)

  • I was one of the few who really can say he was at J.C.Dobbs when Pearl Jam first played here. I talked about it on these forums a long time ago. No I didn't appreciate it then. I had no idea who they were. I was there to see my buddies band.

Anyway, since that day I've been to alot of shows. You guys in Philly know what we had to go thru to see a PJ show back in the 90's. They never played here because of ticketmaster. The closest they came was Brooklyn or Hershey PA.

The hands down best concert I have ever seen by any band was P.J. at State College in May of 03. No this wasn't as good as that. Maybe I'm biased because I met my future wife at that show...but regardless...it was a close second. I've seen every show in N.J. and almost every one in M.S.G. since 94. This beats them all.

I'm not going to get in a pissing contest here with guys from New York but I'm also not going to let them downplay the significance of this show. It was pretty goddamn special. The crowd was magnificant.

To all of you guys in section 114, thank you, thank you, thank you, for making this a memory I will never forget. Also thanks to Eddie and the gang for playing "Crown of Thorns". It's the first time i ever heard that live in 15+ shows. I've heard Drop the Leash many times live and quite frankly I dont see the speciality of the song. Maybe other people haven't....oh well.

Anyway, I'm really sorry for myself for not meeting more of you in the parking lot before the gig. I had a midterm at 3 to 5 pm and got there late. To those I did meet, you guys and gals are beyond all expectations that any band could hope for. Fuck man you are the coolest goddamn people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I just hope I can meet more of you in the spring.

    Truly yours,

    Zoot
  • Any one know if this concert is coming out on cd or only on a download?

    yep, a wicked trilogy. heavenly.

Yes, Harvest Moon, Hard to Imagine and Crown of Thorns was a wicked trilogy, but for me it was the close to the first set that just set the standard for the amount of power a band can generate...Once, Bleed For Me and Blood...can't imagine a stronger close to a set!!

And then there was the "Man" trilogy too...and that's not even counting the enormous power of the two songs Sad and Alone back to back...all in all, die hard fans could dissect this show a million different ways...it was that kind of a legendary night in this band's lore...one for the ages from a band for the ages!! Thanks Pearl Jam. Thanks Ten Club. And thanks to so many of my fellow jammers for being the best rock fans there are.
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!
  • yeah, I still can't believe it

What was the deal with what Jeff was wearing...The shirt with a skeleton ribcage? He was wearing make-up, wasn't he. It almost looked like they were playing a halloween show and that was his costume or something. I went through the whole thread and nobody mentions anything about that. I'm just curious :-)

Oh, was that Jeff? I just assumed it was Ace Frehley b/c I knew he played w/ PJ at one of the AC shows.

  • You know, its close to a month later and I'm sipping on some beers listening to the boot tonight. What a show. What a fucking show. Did you ever feel like the band put on a show especially for you...like they asked you to put together the setlist? That night had everything...even In My Tree and Crown of Thorns....amazing.

They are so good. Such a special band. Might I also say I'm glad I'm from Philly.........great crowd, amazing energy...SUPER loud.

    BUY THIS BOOT.

  • Okay, so I'm listening to the boot AGAIN and was reminded of a conversation I had at a party last weekend. I met someone for the first time (who had also been at the show) and we were talking about the chills-down-the-spine excellent set list. It was nice to talk in person to someone who "got" how amazing that was. I have to be honest ... I don't often get that chance.
