I thought it was sold out or is that the 2nd night?

Just the 2nd night. Yesterday was an extra show.

The show was great, but the venue (Pacaembu) they played here 6 years ago is better than Morumbi.
Today will be amazing with 67.000 fans.
Let's say knowledge is a tree, yeah.
It's growing up just like me.

    Hi,

I just got back from the concert...It was pretty much what I expected it to be...Sort of a greatest hits setlist and not so long of a concert....Majority of the time the opening show of a pearl jam tour is sort of a short set....I am sure Fridays set will be a little longer....As far as the show...I thought it was really good...I sort of thought they would be playing a lot of their staple tracks...But, overall it was a really good..The crowd in Sao Paulo blows away any crowds away in the USA...

    Jeremy
    Hope you're having a blast! :)

    Hi Denise,

Yeah, I am having a blast...Only negative thing about my trip is that I have to go back home eventually.....

    Let's not get carried away...

Have you been to a pearl jam concert in the South America?...Brazil, Argentina etc..

no but i've seen dvd's of concerts, including pearl jam, and those crowds can't be topped by U.S. crowds.

    Guys,
Morumbi stadium is a huuuuuge place!!! Its for 70 or 80.000 people!!
And last night was the extra show because the tix for sao Paulo show 2 were sold out very quickly!!

For those who think sao Paulo show last night was weak, i invite you to go tonight!!

Just got an information that last night was 50.000 people!!! And tonight will be 70.000 people!!

    Not bad, right??? :D:D
  • The setlist wasn't short! It was just 'ordinary'. Nothing special there (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF COME BACK).

I wish they would have prepared something rare for the South American tour - like they did playing Hunger Strike just for Mexico in '03.

And to see something else than a greatest hits list.... some Sleight of Hand, some Rats, some Indifference, some You Are, All or None, Immortality, In My Tree, Who You Are, Footsteps... the list can go on forever, you know what I mean.

And I'll be honest (and hope not to be judged) - I'm not digging the fact they are playing A LOT of Backspacer.

I mean, it's still Pearl Jam, it's still a great concert - especially for first timers.... but if I had gone to Sao Paulo just to see that, my expectations would have been bummed out.

Let's just hope for more original sets as the tour unvelops.

very cool for the SA fans

As far as the setlist goes, EV knows his audience-no doubt a large chunk of that crowd wanted to hear exactly what they played.

Well, I hope he can read my mind and play the Spodek, Poland Setlist from 2000. That's all I ask.
  • Amazing concert last night! I missed a few songs but ...

I don't think it was a "short set" or the concert was "weak" or it was "empty". What is "empty" for a concert on a THURSDAY evening in a 70k venue anyways?

I think it was pretty damn good. But I'm sure today will be way better.

I got one of the worst places ever because I had trouble getting in...they made me lose the first 3 or 4 songs and I had to decide between getting in through the horrible far way back staff gate or walking "miles" back to the fan club gate... of course I chose the staff gate and the stage was this small blue dot on the other end of the venue ... but I had fun...

Downer moment: lots of drunk people around, next to me there was a guy who insisted in shouting "play Sweet Child o'mine!" I soooooo wanted to kick his ass, but I was too busy having a good time to worry about that for more than 1 or 2 secs.

But you know, I did what a PJ fan is supposed to do, sang all the songs at the top of my lungs (ALL of them!) jumped, screamed...and wanted that concert to last AT LEAST 3 hours more...

I read on the news today that about 52 to 54 K people attended the concert yesterday... Very good for a "second" night SHOW after having a 67k SOLD OUT...

But I agree with most people here...today will be MUCH BETTER...

    See you guys tonight!

man you´re asking for a 11 years ago playlist with 3 albums between! be positive and enjoy it!
it was a good setlist to start the tour, and even more knowing they´re playing twice on that venue..

let´s hope the non so hits starts tonight!

He dropped a couple of lesser played songs in there, whipping, miracles, come back.
Its been awhile since they have played there and the crowds are large.

Expect more of the same popular songs with a few nuggest thrown in.
