I know I don't post much here, but him and his partner in the heinous crime deserve to die. Also, what the fuck was the defense thinking when they blamed victims?

Executions are much more costly. If anything, it creates jobs because it takes an eternity of appeals and incarceration to execute someone. It is very costly.

Dude deserves to have 90% of his body covered in serious burns and rot in a burn unit ... of course this is after he is raped and tortured for hours.

Not that I advocate such treatment .... but that is what this fucker really deserves. In the end, he will get three squares a day, probably have access to entertainment in a climate controlled cell, and get a lethal cocktail in about ten years while protesters light candles outside and grieve for him.

    a) Fetus not a human
    b) Does the government pay for abortion?
    c) Does the government force someone to have an abortion?

    Didn't think so.

    a) Pro-life say yes at conception. Pro-choice say not until birth. Those of us that don't care about picking sides and look at the facts say right around 20-22 weeks a fetus is human. I think both the "human at conception" and "human when eyes first see daylight" are both absurd and ridiculous stands to take.

    b) The government funds Planned Parenthood, so yes.

    c) I don't believe so.

Wow, just saw this in my local paper:

    http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/state ... 10497.html

"Rep. Brad Drake filed a bill this week that would end the use of lethal injection in Florida executions. Instead those with a death sentence could choose between electrocution or a firing squad, under the proposal."

No kidding! People like Drake just don't get it- violence begets violence. States without the death penalty consistantly have lower rates of murder. Blood thirsty people don't want to hear this.

Exactly what I was thinking to the both of you.
I've never seen any stats on this, but does anyone who commits a crime that could result in death penalty EVER weigh the pros and cons as to whether or not the method scares them?

This Drake fella likes blood I guess.

Do pro-choice folks really say that a child has no rights until birth? I haven't met very many pro-choicers who have put forward this position. In fact, most pro-choicers I've encountered seem very accepting of current abortion laws.

Certainly the law doesn't support the idea that a child has no rights until birth. Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey pretty much sets out 22-23 weeks as the term where a fetus is not considered alive. Sure, there are always some nut jobs that want to rationalize terminating an unborn child up until conception but that standard has never been accepted by the courts.
  • How many more threads do we need retreading the same old discussion that's been had a thousand times? It would be much more constructive to add to the existing discussions, to find where these topics have been discussed before, read what people have said about them before, and then make an informed contribution to the discussion. This constant rehashing of topics without referring to what has been dicussed before about them is pointless and gets no one anywhere.

The original discussion belongs here: http://forums.pearljam.com/viewtopic.ph ... y#p3929024

    The tangent belongs here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=135746&start=270&hilit=death+penalty+abortion

I really could don't give a rats ass what happens to these POS...they were caught leaving the scene...they commited unthinkable crimes...with these type of individuals I'm fine with what ever the state decides.

In some cases the death penalty is fine with me and this one is an example.

Just curious how often does Connecticut use capital punishment anyways?
