Shoes on or shoes off?

As a kid my family always took our shoes off before entering the house. We also took our shoes off when we were visiting anyone else's home. I do this now. So I ask...shoes on or shoes off?

This made me smile, it reminds me of my uncle who passed in february. He would have his shoes on in his own house all day when I would stop by. It was like, where are you going? Relax. Just funny. I guess you never know when you might have to bolt out the back door.

  • We always had to take off our shoes in my house growing up as well, but I attribute that to my mom being a clean freak and she'd shit if we tracked in dirt on the carpet. I still take off my shoe's at my mom's but dont necessarily at other people's house. Well, most of the time I do because I wear flip flops and it's not a hassle.

    Shoes OFF!
The only time I wear shoes is to work, otherwise I live in flip flops and bare feet. That said, I neither wear shoes or flops inside my place. Keeps the place and the carpet clean....and afterall....who wants to wear shoes when they don't have to?!?!?! :?

If I have people over, I don't expect them to take them off, but I think the least they can do is ask.

    No shoes!

    Who needs shoes anyway?

Can't stand wearing them..or even socks. The best I can manages is flip flops and if it really really gets cold...then clogs, so i can kick them off as soon as possible.

but the house thing, i think its just polite to remove your shoes as you enter someone else's house...well, unless you have a good reason not too ;) bring a "house" pair of flip flops with you (keep in your car, I do) wherever you go, then you're prepared for all occasions :D

Honestly, unless you're walking into a crack house or something, why would you want to wear shoes in the comfort of someone's home?

Granted, there are exceptions, like if you're moving furniture or something.
