Holt did an admirable job filling in for Hanneman the times I saw him, but Dave is quite simply the greatest fucking drummer alive. There is no sensible reason why he shouldn't be pounding the skins on his most successful band's farewell tour. Kerry King should have apologized for ripping him off for years and offered a fairer share of the profits.
Dead Cross kicks ass, though!
Y'all are all nuts. If you have a chance to see Slayer, you go.
Great show. Lots of energy. I locked eyes with Araya as I was bopping. He smiled at me and nodded.
One of the most influential metal acts of all time put on a great show. They closed with Angel of Death and had a huge banner for Hanneman as the AOD.
Anthrax played a great show. They were fantastic. Stilla lot of energy from these guys!
Lamb of God were on my radar to see for a while. They did not disappoint. These guys are tight.

Caught Shame when they came through town a few weeks ago. Epic show, they completely blew me away!!! Don't sleep on these guys, see them while the tickets are cheap and they are still playing small venues. Kevin Morby was in town for a festival too, so caught him the night after.
Scored a last minute ticket for the first day of Pitchfork Festival. Saw Julien Baker, Courtney Barnett and Tame Impala. First time going and it was a lot more crowded than I expected. Lots of noise bleed across stages... got close enough for Tame Impala that it was loud enough, but I heard a lot of complaints from others who went that their set was pretty quiet.
Work trip meant I would have to miss the Foo Fighters, but got lucky enough to trade GA tickets for the previous night's show. Flying back home last night I was delayed two hours, which resulted in a cab ride straight from the airport to Concord Music Hall to see the Tycho. They played their first note just as I dropped off my bags at the coat check!
Cubs game tonight and then Parquet Courts aftershow... tomorrow will be miserable. Also scored Vampire Weekend aftershow and Riot Fest 3 day pass. Plus found tickets for Wrigley N2. Going to be tough to add any more big shows this fall...

Slayer in Cardiff. Anyone who says its not Slayer - Dave Lombardo has quit the band THREE times and didnt write a song. They were great the last few times I saw them and its the last time they will play Wales.
