My drought is ending. Now I have tickets to two shows
Headstones - November 9 Queens of the Stone Age - January 22
It's nice to have some good shows coming locally. I've been passing on the recent trend of super expensive stadium tours, so having some smaller local shows to go to is pretty sweet. Headstones played here a few years ago and it was one of the best shows i've seen. They tore the house down
I'm happy to read that about the Headstones. I'm going to their show on the 10th, but I have never listened to them much before - I had really only heard of them - and since my friend got those tix I've tried listening to them on Spotify and their music doesn't do much of anything for me. But I know that a band who's "blah" for me at home sometimes bring something so much better to the stage. I was hoping this would be the case with this show, and I guess your opinion of their live show makes me feel better.

I think this will be my fourth headstones show. They've kicked ass every time. I saw them twice before they disbanded, and that show 2 years ago was when they got back together. They didn't skip a beat... I even think that show might of been better than the 2 I saw in the early 00's.
edit - I encourage anyone here to look these guys up and catch one of the last shows on the current tour if you have the time. Hands down the best young band out today.

their music doesn't do much for you?? FOR SHAME.
Hugh Dillon is a front man for the ages. Their music kicks serious ass. And their live show is better. You won't be disappointed.

Lol, Sorry HFD! Yeah, I dunno. It just doesn't trigger any emotional response for me. But I will still enjoy the show - it's at the Commodore, my company will be good, and I believe you guys about them being a good live show.

yeah, most of the emotional response I get from the HS is more nostalgia surrounding the time period of their prime time as a band. However, I do really love cranking up their reunion album, Love + Fury. Their new album is different. it sounds more like his stuff with the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, which was his band after HS split up. There's a couple high octane rockers, but more mid-tempo stuff than I'm used to. L+F is balls to the wall punk rock.
When I am in the mood for emotional response: Pearl Jam or The Watchmen When I'm in the mood to rock the fuck out: Headstones

I know what you mean, but rocking the fuck out requires an emotional response too, right? And a really good one. Listening to the Headstones literally just makes me go "meh". But again, I'm sure it won't be like that live.

Saw Tori Amos Friday night. Wonderful show. Her in between a baby grand and a keyboard was a spectaular show. Very intimate. Her voice is just a bright as on her first album.
When I left the venue at 10, it did make me think how spoiled Pearl Jam has made me/us. I kept thinking, " we've still got another hour and a half of show time."
Elton John Friday night. Even though tix in my section are selling for over a $1000/pair, I'm going to have a smile on my face. Bucket list show for my wife, and lord knows she's gone to enough PJ shows with me.
