I went to Isles/Devils game at the Barclays Center the other night and the ice was in terrible condition! It looked like they were all moving in slow motion.
Are you sure it was the ice? ;)
I would like to see the Isles make some noise this year.Tavares is ready to take control.Made a big move last couple of years, now he has to keep it up.Only 23 years old.
NJ took Brunner from us and I'm surprised he signed for 5mil for 2 seasons. The guy is a goal scorer though.Just wonder if he can keep it up.

 I am sure it was the ice, I just wish I could blame the ice for the last 20 years of mostly miserable play

Wild season opens Thursday vs. LA. That could be a tough one, but the Wild tend to start strong, so we'll see.

We've got tickets for Saturday night's game vs. Anaheim. Looking forward to it. I'm tired of being depressed about baseball.

Hopefully never, I started to panic when I heard there was interest in Bryzgalov...but I'm sure the Pens will panic at some point.

Same shitty team as last year. C'mon draft pick. If anyone needs me I'll be in the F1 thread....

i've always understood the role of fighting in the nhl ... but what i know of concussions and brain injuries now - i gotta say - i could still enjoy hockey without ever watching another fight ... especially when you see what happened last night ... and i mean - it's kinda bizarre too ... you are fighting and you want to hurt the other guy and then when he is hurt - everyone feels bad ... guys get concussed getting punched too ...

SI doesn't really know hockey. Pittsburgh is a good reg. season team but I don't think they have the defense and goalie that will win in the playoffs.

I can see another boston-blackhawks final.

lol, If Price was as good as Reimer last night you would have won the game, and if Parros didn't land on his face maybe the momentum would have stayed with you guys but after that fight the building went all quiet and the energy went out of the habs as well but i understand why it was tough to watch at home.

With all the defensive break downs no I don't think. Same old song and dance!
Poor Parros, I think he'll be ok. Gives him a chance to rest his shoulder at least ;) Up until that point the fighting was the only improvement I think our team made! And even that was a freak occurrence.

Im not a fan of the new realignment. I think it is an improvement as I was incredibly bored with the last alignment... but I really liked the Owners' proposal last season of 3 Independent Conferences.

I hate the names of the Divisions. Name them after people. Be unique and cool. It is like they want to do that with "Metropolitan", then suddenly stopped, thus defaulting the name "Atlantic" to the seaboard cities like Buffalo, Detroit, Toronto, and Ottawa.

I also dislike the unbalanced conferences, unbalanced schedule, and weird Top 3 spots plus Wildcard spots confusion. Clear as mud.
  • Damn, sayin' a prayer for George Parros.

Parros is a smart man. There are many other things he could be doing to make money. He knows the risks. And he will be back.

Jason Kay, and the aptly named Damien Cox, can both eat a bag of dicks.

A lot of that realignment was to get the Wings in the Eastern conference ... they've been lobbying for years to be in the Eastern Conference. Personally I would have much rather gone back to the days of the balance schedule and come playoff time 1 vx 16, 2 vs 15 and so on ... that way the 16 best team make the tournament, the way it is now is if you play in a weaker division you stand a better chance to make the playoffs.

I agree with you to a certain extent ... where I have a problem with the current system is it allows some of these puke players to take runs and cheap shots at the league star players. So until the league is ready to admit that it's in everyone's best interest that the top players (all players) should be free from cheap shots and if they means stiff suspensions leading unto lifetime bans on repeat offenders then I'm all for it. Until the league is ready for that I'll always support the elimination of the instigator rule.

for sure - it's not just isolated ... i've always been appreciative of the role of fighting in hockey ... but my views have changed once i started understanding brain injuries and concussions ... i humbly suggest to all that support fighting in the nhl to read up on this stuff ... why are we protecting players from head shots in the game and hits from behind but don't care about guys punching people in the head with bare knuckles?

every year they talk of how we are gonna compete, then we get not just bitten, but devoured by the injury bug. either that, or our goalie and defense goes cold in the playoffs. this is our first full training camp with hitchcock, so maybe that will help us somewhat. it is going to be exciting though.

Vegas needs to put a betting line down on the following Roy scenerios:

    * he ends up scaling the glass and attacking a fan or mascot before the year is over.
    * attacking a press member with a microphone in an after game press conference
    * fights one of his own players during a game
    * makes it 82 games without being fired or kicked out of the league for life

I would bet on the first 3 and bet against the last one.
