The Conn Smythe winner is for the whole playoffs, not just the Finals.

I guess when you break a single playoff record for assist, that was held by some guy named Gretzky, you win the award?

I don't think there would've been too many complaints if Bobrovsky won it? (I don't)
Just one question when Gretzky made that record, he won the cup that year right?
    Yes

Well, answer this question: Has a player won the Conn Smythe before from a losing team?=LOL

Like I said, it's for the whole playoffs and not just the Finals.
Yeah but he did zilch in the stanley cup.  He had 2 good games.  They played 7. That to me outweighs his previous exploits. McJeezus should not have won.

    Take a poll.  I'll say it’s 90/10 on that.
But it’s an award for the ENTIRE playoffs.
    Exactly.

"BOB" got pulled in the SC Final?
And gave up one goal when it mattered most.  The same night Conner had zero points.

Yes, that did happen, but again, it's for the whole playoffs.

He broke a Wayne Gretzky playoff record and led his team to the SC Finals.

Yes I understand both.  Now to be fair, I think he broke Wayne's #4 record for most points, is that right?  Or did he set an actual assists record?

But also, yes it's for the whole playoffs, but let's not pretend the Finals don't matter the most and winning the Cup doesn't matter.  It does and it should.  For example, what if Conner scored the same points but they were eliminated in Game 7 of the WCF?  It's absolutely conceivable but could you imagine giving the trophy to someone not even making the Finals?

To be clear, I love McDavid and I hate the Panthers.  I'm just saying that I understand why the Panthers fans would be upset that they got gipped out of that trophy on a G7 home ice SCF victory.  I'd be annoyed too.

Sam Reinhart getting a 8 year deal really isn't surprising.  It's the Lighting that really shook things up by moving Sergachev to Utah (I'm frankly shocked), but then signing Guentzel to a 7 year deal with an AAV higher than Reinhart.  When this started, I thought for sure that was to clear space for Stamkos, but it looks like they are going to let him walk.  It's the right thing to do, as Stamkos will command near these numbers, but he has become almost a power play specialist over the last few years, and it's late career.

Stammer is now the #1 UFA out there.
Stamkos to the Preds for big money.  Throw in Marchessault and you have a Preds team that wants to win now, but will likely be in salary cap hell in just a few years, with aging players.  I don't know their true cap situation, but this seems to be a big gamble.

Yeah, but for the Lightning, it's the right call as much as I hate it.  He wanted 8MM or so a year, but then he will be almost 40. He's already become more of a PP specialist and his two way play has suffered.  So do you think you can do what the Penguins tried to do and sign Syd and Malkin, but now you have all of that money tied up in older players and can't build your depth?  That's what Tampa was facing.  Instead they moved Serg (which surprised me) and signed a 29 year old Guentzel. It's the right move long term.

I'm pretty sure he broke the record for ast.s.

McDavid was the heavy odds on fav, by those experts for the Gambling companies, after game 5 or 6 of the SC Finals.

I don't think it would ever happen( winning Conn Smythe when not making the SC Finals).

I read articles where X-players said he should win it regardless if he won the Cup or not, because he was just that dominate and the reason why the Oilers were where they were.

I'm sure the finals does have a little more weight when considering the MVP and I think McDavid did something in the final that NO player has ever done?(4+ points 2 games in a row?)

Yeah, I can see why Panthers fans were upset too.

I had no dog in the fight and I didn't care who won or lost The Cup or the Conn Smythe. I just wanted to see a good Series, which it was.

Give me a break.  Are you trying to say outrageous things? In what universe do Philly fans not do the same thing?

My phone knows English, same as I do.  You're great with emojis though, so I guess that's a skill that is useful.

We threw snowballs at Santa and we can't spell typing on phones! And those Miami fans are so amazing. Walking out of the NBA Finals before the game is over, booing the best player in hockey after they won a championship, always bringing those oh so original john 3-16 signs, never even coming close to halfway filling their dumb indoor baseball stadium. Man I wish we were more like them.

Nothing is more douchy than a bunch of fans complaining about other fans. But sure, you guys are the best fans ever and no one has more of a right to criticize other cities than Philly.  The irony is thick.

Maybe they are trying to be like Montreal (Le Club de Hockey Canadien).  Which would be annoying and pretentious, like the "football club" names that are being used in the States now.

Let's rewind... the only reason I ever said a word about Philly fans is because of the comments made against the Panthers fans by the Philly person(s) here.   To reiterate, I hate the Panthers.  I am a Lightning fan and they are our rivals.  But the pretentious comments of Philly fans (ANY FANS) insulting another group of fans of not being legit, real, whatever, chaps my ass.  So if you guys would stfu about the digs at Panther fans, I would do the same.

Which is literally what you and your generic uninformed cohort of people constantly do to Philly.
Pretty sure nothing would get you to stfu. I provided very obvious examples of loser fan behavior by Miami fans, and I stand by it.

On the other hand, we are here giving multiple standing ovations to a struggling and very expensive free agent SS. Yeah, that would happen in Miami. LOL  Go watch all the Stanley Cup DVD's of your team and touch some grass dude.

But my two examples were a good reason why they are a shitty fan base. And those two reasons came from an event two weeks ago, not 60 years ago.   They let up to 20% or more of their seats be sold to an opposing teams fans in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. is there another fan base in the NHL that would happen? I can't think of one.   And I didn't like the booing of the Conn Smythe award.  And if that happened in Philly i'd call it out as well.

Marchessault is/was my SIL’s favorite player. We got her his jersey (I know, sweater) last christmas. goddammit!
Now that Utah has a team, are you going to woot for them?  (Through Vegas to the trash!)
i believe I’m still gonna woot for VGK. not happy that the billionaire owner of the UHC is getting a billion dollar handout from the city/state to build his “downtown entertainment district.”

it's ICE hockey. in FLORIDA. a co worker of mine used to go down to florida every winter, would get rink side seats, a hot dog, and a beer all for $25. and the place was still nearly empty. You don't change that shit overnight. I'd say their fanbase is doing pretty well all things considered.

I agree with mrussel1. shitting on an entire fanbase is pretty stupid.
