I had a nice time following PJ for 3 shows.
I learned many new things...like some of the restaurants write their prices using fractions:
Calamari...$9½
very 'trendy'
Canada differentiates stamps for the US and international...and they also have one price for stamps...no 'postcard' prices or 'letter' prices...they are all one price.
Calgary has a tower like the Space Needle...but their tower has a glass floor in one section, I stood out on it and it wasn't that scary. They also have a rotating restaurant, lunch was nice. (how do they make it rotate? Hundreds of hamsters running on wheels?)
The boys in Edmonton are very forward and just blurt out whatever is on their mind...example:
after the show, we drove around looking for a post-party. A young man walked up to the car and introduces himself "hey, where's the party?" "We're looking for it!" I said. He babbles on and asks me, "Are you a (insert racist derogatory term here)?" "Umm...no" I said. He keeps asking me "what" I am...so I tell him. Then he says, "OMG! I am (insert disgusting crude act here) in my pants right now!" :? Then he goes on about how he wants us to party with him and his friend....
What did RYEz call him? oh yeah a "Rig Rat" can I call him a 'rig rat fuck'?
Vancouver was nice as always, though I was disappointed in the crowd participation.
All in all Canada is a beautiful place, the people are very friendly...people actually say 'hello' whilst passing another on the street, and like to make conversation with strangers.
Glad to have finally met a few of you on my travels, we saw Jason and the touring van  and even at a random stop in Jasper National park.
Hope to see many of you again on tour.
Next tour...Boston and the northeast!

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I got a beer with your name on it sister!!!! Boston & Hartford 2012 are gonna kick serious ass! Or should I say they'll be wicked pissah?? And, as long as u dont get puked on, you'll most likely arrive home illness free!
Being our first time in Vancouver the wife and I check into the hotel at 11 Pm on Friday and ask the guy at the front desk where we can go to grab a bite and a few drinks w/in walking distance of the hotel. (Downtown)
The guy tells us to go to Granville Street. OK, a short walk, kinda crowded promenade style place and all looks good. Lots of thrashed people but hey, I am cool with that and it IS Friday night after all.
We duck into a place w/o a line and spend an hour or so before deciding to move along.
Fight Night breaks out shortly after we get on the street. No bullshit we saw 3 fights, 2 of them prolonged with kick-piles and random jump ins....was kind of crazy.
My wife was kind of uncomfortable and I was worried that we were too close and someone would do/say something to her, drawing me into the ridiculousness. Thankfully we got out clean while it was going on all around us - the PoPo showed up to settle folks down.
She put on FaceTard that we just witnessed Fight Night on Vancouver Streets and got about 10 responses to the like of 'You must be on Granville' or 'WTF are you doing on Granville.'
Too funny. We are mid 30s, not sure why the front desk would send us into 20-something rage and shithoused area as opposed to plenty of nice options we saw over the coming few days also w/in walking distance.
Hey, I was young and angry for a bunch of years, I recall what it was like. Just not the optimal spot to be with the wife!
Also funny was a news story we saw the next day about another unwilling participant:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/09/26/d-j-qualls-supernatural-vancouver-police-conflict/
I saw the cops come in and round up folks, including some people who didnt have anything to do with the fighting. Guess DJ didn't learn from his work in Hustle & Flow -- Its Hard out here for a pimp!
And stay the fuck away from East Hastings. :?
oh my! you had quite the experience! Last time I was in Canada we walked around downtown, and wandered into a really bad neighborhood, we passed the Versace (sp?) store walked down a block, and suddenly, we see syringes all over the ground, people dealing drugs in the open... :?
I would've yelled at the guy at the hotel for sending you there!
I will see you there twisty! (ok, gotta start saving) Don't feed me too much alcohol...or I will become Seattle Puker in Bawston!

Poutine!
Granville Street was FANTASTIC people watching. Friend and I sat and had sushi and 3 pitchers of beer and just watched the crowd for a few hours ... HI-LAR-I-OUS!!!!
I adore Canada, the PJ folks up there absolutely ROCK. I cannot wait to go back.

As long as you can control yourself and not puke on the sorry bastard in front of you (yes, it's the worst experience I've had at a concert), you should be okay.

At the Garden, no. In Mansfield, yes. Although when I was there in 2008, it was a bit more limited than the Glory Days of '98, '00 and '03. Don't think the parking lot opened until 4 or so. And they were trying to ban people from drinking alcohol in the parking lots ...
Some folks had a rough time with security being sticklers ... but my two shows in '08, we were fine, had a blast.
Someone will have to update me on what things are like there now. But, I *loved* tailgating at Mansfield before PJ shows. Hope it will happen again in 2012!

If its at the (not really in Boston venue but they call it a Boston show anyways) Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA then yes....parking lots w/ tailgating a-plenty. If its at the Garden - well then you'll be tailgating in a parking garage. Better off to find the preparty bar when its at the Boston Garden.
Yeah, they attempted that at PJ20 too. They didn't stand a fucking chance.
There was booze everywhere.

beer was allowed in the parking lots at pj20.
Really? I thought I saw signs that said "consumption of alcohol or tailgating in the parking lot is prohibited"
I could've read it wrong, I was excited to drink.

Probable. I don't pay attention well during times of excitement.

feel free to pm the unabridged version of this conversation.
Sadly, I can figure it out. :?
i think i have the disgusting crude act part figured out, but the other two parts...i'm not sold on, although you would think i would have a decent idea on the answer.
I haven't met Lisa or know what she looks like so I can't begin to think about what racialist shit was said. I did live in Vancouver for a long time so I know a lot of racial slurs through racist friends.
i had shimmy coming from the middle east but she is from trinibag and tobago area.
i don't even wanna guess at 4and20.
but if you wanna play the height/age/weight game, i'm all over that shit.
either way ... canadians are generally friendly lot ... just don't tell them you're from toronto ...
Was that intentional (inside joke, perhaps) ... if not ... you should probably stay away from the geography game as well ...

I'm usually a grammar whore but this time I didn't want to say anything.
