    Dear Minnesota sports teams,

You're breaking my heart and I'm not sure this is going to work out. I've got a lot of books to read, and quite frankly, they don't collectively go out of their way to make my blood boil.

So I guess what I'm saying is I miss when you were fun. I'm not sure if this year is worth saving. Goodbye?

    Sincerely,

    vant0037

PS don't bother trying to get in touch. Faulkner and McCarthy aren't on Twitter and neither am I.

Haha. Half-serious. Sports are a fun distraction. When they stop becoming fun, I tend to tune out, at least publicly. Secretly, I still stew.

Speaking of McCarthy, I hated Blood Meridian until the final 100 pages. It's so lauded, that perhaps I had too high of expectations going in. Those last 100 pages hooked me. Awesome stuff.

Couldn't wait to get the boots. Now I find it hard to even play them. The STP show while not my favorite was still very moving and special. MKE and Moline were very unique and listening will only make my regret worse. Small problems right?

Anyway, what band/album are you guys stuck on? Roky Erickson
You're Gonna Miss Me compilation hasn't left my ride since before Xmas

I was just listening to the thirteenth floor elevators tonight. Their first album and Easter everywhere are great. Make sure to get the mono versions though (they're on iTunes).

I got to see Roky and the Black Angels at first avenue about a year ago. He is old and has obviously lived a tough life. Amazing to see a living legend and the black angels are a musical acid trip in and of themselves.

i was at that black angels/roky show, too. what a show it was. just to get to see roky made it worth it.

i'm still listening to the new floyd record a lot. and i found a kmfdm lp at cheapo a couple weeks ago- i've been spinning that many nights. it's like i'm 16 again.

Nice I was at the First Ave show too. My buddy made us late but we caught probably 4 songs. He's the man. His backing band was great too.

The best black angels show I saw was at the fine line in 2013. The crowd was crazy; people jumping off the stage, a tension between the band and audience and a long set.

Their encore was true believers and black isn't black with sitar. Black isn't black was about ten minutes long. I saw them at the electric fetus earlier in the day.

Anyone receive Vault #4 vinyl yet?

I don't care when I receive it, I just wish 10c would get their shipping notification organized. I got a shipping email three weeks ago saying it was mailed out, then I get a UPS notification for last Monday and still nothing. I just want to stop checking the mail for it!

Your absolutely correct. Blood Meridian is a tough, violent read but worth it once you're finished. I really loved the "Border Trilogy" of All the Pretty Horses, The Crossing, and Cities of the Plains. And "No Country for Old Men" is flat out awesome. I read that in one shot. I couldn't put it down.
