We were still hunkered down in one of the tunnels at this point, soon to go back to our seats and deal with the drunk guy who puked and passed out next our seats and his wife who took off. He did rally when the field opened up and went down to his spot though.

Last year it was Pearl Jam followed by Jason Aldean the following night. This year, Wrigley hosted Billy Joel last night and Blake Shelton tonight. No rain this year

Yea, the risks of playing outdoors.

Wrigley sealed my future for outdoor concerts. Never again.

It was really that bad of an experience? Personally, I don't think hanging around a historic ballpark in a great city until two am on a hot summer weekend while waiting for your favorite band who didn't call it when many more might've is really such a terrible thing. Different point of view I guess...

Indoor, outdoor, festival or no, I'll go.

I was crushed when people were let back on the field, my gf fell down and was stepped on by four fans. She had a huge bruise on her face. I won't mention a particular European festival in 2000 by name, but it could have easily turned into version 2.0. I don't talk about this much because I try not to think back to it. It was a very frightening.

yes, for me it was that bad.

That's different than saying it sucked because of the music or it could've been, but wasn't, great. You had a personal experience that most people didn't have and that's why you didn't like it. Fair enough. This is the first you've mentioned of that personal situation.

I don't get the persistence in trashing the show for reasons unrelated to what you just described, in this or other threads. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't get the persistent negativity when it's clear what you're basing it on is an experience most people didn't have.

I was simply underwhelmed by the show. The band can do better than what they did at Wrigley and listening to Eddie at the end of the show he knows it was a disappointment. Maybe I wouldn't feel so negative about the show if I wasn't fearful of me and my gf's life going back to the GA section. That probably tainted my overall impression of the show. For those of you who didn't have that experience I'm sure it was more enjoyable.

I should let it rest and stay off on the sidelines with my opinions on wrigley. If you enjoyed it, that's great. Sorry if I was negative, but it brings up some scary moments for me. :-/

I am really looking forward to Moline and St. Paul though. :-)

Sorry to hear you had a frightful time. But, I think you should let it go or lay it to rest. Atleast on here. I mean, we all come on here to get pumped and share our PJ stories. It really sucks that you had a traumatic experience. But, you kind of rain on our parade at times.....

Ask AndySlash about his Wrigley experience.

That's actually what I was getting at. You've called it overrated, but then also stated that you were underwhelmed by it AND had a bad/scary experience. I'll do you one further and say that your experience of it most likely WAS tainted by that scary moment, which begs the question of who is really rating the show wrong?

I've got no problem with opinions; I deal with them all day. I just think most of us come here to relax, kill time, chat with other 10c members who share PJ and other local things in common. Complaining about something like Wrigley, which was very positive for most of us, is completely fine. But at least attribute why you didn't like it honestly. It can't be "overrated" if your own take on it was because of something very unique that happened to you.

Anyway, just my take. Hopefully this thread and every PJ is great going forward.

I went to college in Duluth and drank heavily in Superior. I actually drank heavily in Duluth, too. The schooling didn't go that well. But the Thirsty Pagan was not there when I was around. Before my time. Haven't been up there in a grip.

Got my first degree in Duluth in 05, got my teaching license in 2013.

Were you around when House of Donuts was still around? I went back in 2007 to visit some friends and was devastated when I couldn't get a donut. Ironically, it turned into a food co-op or something.

The HOD! Many a drunken 2am visits for mini tacos there after hardcore drinking with my buddy who attended scholastica. Those were the days !

Charlie's in west Duluth was solid too. I was boozing there the night it burnt down. And who could forget the Viking in Superior. What a shithole.
