I just had a grouchy courthouse deputy blow up at me -- curses and all -- because I playfully said the Vikes were unwatchable last Friday (and they were: preseason lackadaisicalness + poor play = unwatchable).

Derek and Ryan aside ;) , NFL fans, on average, may be the worst collective group of fans in pro sports.

Football on TV? I watch just about every game (unless I've got something else). Football live?

How many leagues are you in? I got one draft (the big one) this weekend and one the following weekend.

I'm not a big Foster guy. If you had the second pick, I probably would've stretched for Spiller or Lynch

You are correct. Football fans are assholes. Drunken assholes. I don;t think I'd ever bring a kid to a game. I can't believe my dad did so often when I was in single digits.

We did go to Soldier Field in 97 and saw Moss take apart the Bears d. I remember seeing lots and lots of angry, drunk Bears fans literally being carried out by security in hand binds. Crazy. It may be passion, but a little overboard with the angryness towards a team, player, or even the game.

    Rediscovering Riot Act bump.

Where does it land on your list?

    Suck it dusick.

You love getting me all riled up on Riot Act. Honestly I just love arguing with you, since you always give it such high praise :D I'd say while I once thought Riot Act was horrible, it's grown on me. 1/2 full, cropduster, green disease, can't keep, ghost, save you - all great jams. Just not AWESOME jams worth repeat listens. Riot Act is not a bad album, it just ranks 2nd lowest compared with the rest of the PJ catalog (behind backspacer).
    vant0037 wrote:
Riot Act has a dark brooding urgency on some of it's rockers (Ghost, 1/2 Full, Can't Keep, Get Right, Green Disease) and a lingering yet fatal optimism on some of it's underrated tracks (Thumbing My Way, All or None, Love Boat Captain). Thematically, it's really a carry-over from Binaural. It's weird how people clamor over Binaural yet hate on Riot Act. Musically, there are a lot of similarities. I just don't see that those two albums are different enough so as to justify people's love for one and supreme distaste for the other.

I sort of see the "carry-over" from Binaural to Riot Act, but the similarities I hear are in the recordings, both being a bit muddy (not as crisp as other albums), and both have a bit of the somber, lyrical darkness. However I see these as two distinct albums, and simply put, I enjoy the collection of songs on Binaural much much more. I think the 'rockers' pack more punch (god's dice, grievance, breakerfall), the slow ones have more meaning (sleight of hand, light years), and the underrated ones beat out some of the best on Riot Act (evacuation, insignificance). I do see the two albums as different enough to justify my love for one, and (mild) distaste for the other.

Agreed. Oh, and I was late to the party on the Riot Act convo and didn't mean to derail the current football conversation. I agree completely on similarities of PJ Ten Clubbers and Football fans, though if I were to classify both in one word, I'd say Football Fans = Angry. Ten Clubbers = Whiny.

    yes, my team.

i didn't know about foster's back until after the draft, otherwise i would have stayed away and went for martin or lynch. not sold on spiller yet. not really sold on martin, either, but like him more than spiller. glad i got ben tate, considering forster's status and my lack of knowledge on the situation there.

i'm in three leagues this year. 2 paid friends' leagues, and one free online. might add another free one, too, if i can get enough 'casual fan' friends to join it. we've been talking about it a few years now so i may actually try to get it going.

Hope you don't need Flacco, btw. I HAD to use him last year.

I always combine binuaral and riot act so it sounds like one album full of really solid songs. (Binaural act)

    Can't keep
    sad
    greivance
    insignificance
    nothing as it seems
    light years
    rival
    save you
    green disease
    ghost
    1/2 full
    down
    undone
    parting ways

I also have an "Avacadospacer" playlist

    Life wasted
    WWS
    severed hand
    army reserve
    gonna see my friend
    got some
    the fixer
    just breathe
    unthought known
    supersonic
    force of nature
    inside job
    wasted reprise

    Aaaaah, the freedom of itunes!
