Hey quarterto10 (Just Joe ) thanks so much for being so persistent and getting Parachutes played. I love the song and it was the last song I needed off of Avacado. I`ve now heard the entire album live but like you it`s taken me a number of years to get it. Well done!
Joe I will be honest Parchutes is not up there in my preferred PJ song list, BUT after reading your story and see how fucking happy you were on-stage last night it made my day to now put your story together with the on-stage guest appearance.
Hope someone can post a video so you can have an everlasting visual memory.

You're pretty brave Joe. I think if I was told by security that the band wanted me to go up on stage and hold the lyrics, I would have folded. I would have been like no friggin way, lol. I might have just given Wendy that job and stayed in my seat. But good for you for going up there. I couldn't have done it though!!!!

Thanks! Honestly, I am not in any way regretting what happened, nor would I take it back, but I think knowing Wendy and what Pearl Jam means to her, I wish she could have gone up there.
My cousin Sean was the inspiration for myself and the rest of my family to get into this band. He was the oldest cousin of ours and opened our eyes to this religion that we call Pearl Jam. He passed away in 2007 and it was devestating to our family.
My brother and I ran into Mike early in the day and had a nice chat with him about the city, jobs, and The Bow River. Before he left, I explained to him what I said above, and told him that Deep was Seans favorite song and that he never got to hear it live, and that we were wondering if there was any chance they could play it tonight while all of our cousins were at the show. Not only did they play it, as well as dedicate it to Sean, they did the same with Light Years as well. What an absolute surreal moment for all of us at the show tonight. That is something we will never ever forget, and something we will cherish forever.
Thank you so much guys.
Awesome. Hence the "Sean" references before "Deep" and "Light Years". If you're ever struggling to explain Pearl Jam's appeal, here's your story.

Oh, and Joe, I was sitting directly behind you in the SHOW ME YOUR RIFFS t-shirt. Like someone else said: never been a "Parachutes" fan myself, but seeing you holding up the lyric sheet and then throwing your arm around Ed's neck while singing towards the end totally changed my relationship with the songs. See you in Edmonton!

Not to be too much of a nerd, but I'm also an R.E.M. freak and I know Eddie is to, so I'm just curious exactly what he said before and/or after the R.E.M. song...did he simply dedicate it to them, or did he talk about how much he liked them, did he say he was bummed they'd broken up?
Any info would be welcome...
Yup me too
UPLOAD YOUR VIDEOS OF IT PEOPLE ALREADY!!!
I have the entire thing, all 6:43 of it, right from the moment he started talking. I also got video of rearviewmirror, release, go, given to fly, just breathe and unthought known.
I'm just in the process of uploading them to youtube and will have a link here sometime today. I'm getting ready to head off to PJ20 tonight at the Garneau!!

Today was just simply amazing! I've never met any other ten clubs in person before. But I ended up meeting a few at the PJ20 Showing and then by chance ran into them again after picking up my tickets. I ended up hanging out with them the rest of the day until the concert. PJ fans are the nicest and the most easy going people I've ever met! The show was freaking crazy! The energy was nuts, Release and Given to Fly gave me goose bumps. I was completely blown away! The cherry on top of it all is that the poster I picked up is the artist variant! Such an amazing day
See Everyone in Edmonton!
Hey man, that was us ... nice to see "youngins" getting into PJ. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Congrats again on scoring the Kozik variant!

Nothingman4 - your story is amazing. I have told everyone I've seen today about it. I think what happened for you last night explains why Pearl Jam is so incredible. I get choked up when I think about it.
Just Joe - I loved seeing you up on stage and after hearing your story, I'm even more excited for you! What an unbelievable experience that must have been to be up on that stage with them. I got tears in my eyes reading your post!
I've seen 13 shows now, and last night's show in Calgary was probably the best I've seen. Something about seeing the movie the day before and being in my home town, plus having awesome seats, the awesome setlist... It just all connected for me!
Can't wait for Edmonton.

First off, I'd like to apologise to all those around me for yelling out DIRTY FRANK all night - I will blame the copious amounts of alcohol consumed prior to.
This was my 7th show and while this wasn't the best of bunch (Halifax 05 was numero Uno in my books), I have absolutely no regrets having flown accross this great country to see the show.
My highlights were:
Rats - I buddied up with a couple true grungers seated behind me. When they started playing it, I get a tap on the shoulder and hear THEYRE PLAYING FUCKING RATS MAN
Light Years - one of my faves. Its just one of those tunes that just reached into my inner self
Deep - So badass
Release - Fantastic
Ledbetter - just closed my eyes for most of the song and just soaked in the moment.
I have no voice at the moment but hope I will be able to sing along tomorrow night in Edmonton.

Amazing show! absolutely loved it! i would also like to thank 10c for the amazing seats i got. i was not expecting row 2 with only being a member for two years. i must say i really lucked out!
I had a great time, 18th row floor...18th is the start of the new section so it was great to have so much room in the front row of the second section. my buddy and I rocked out hard all night, fantastic main set. daughter ending was awesome. rats kicked ass. rearview was especially good. great tempo, i thought the iggy pop cover sounded horrid though. i had been driving all day, so i knew nothing about REM, ed told us and thats how i found out, sad. good cover though. drove 10 in and just drove 10 back for that show, worth every minute, had an abolute blast.
I had never heard deep before either, was waiting a while for that one!!!!

Thank you very much. It was the best tribute we could have gotten for him. The fact that my brother and I never told anybody else in our family what we did prior to the show made it much more special for the rest of our family, as it was a total surprise.

Why is this one of the Greatest Bands of the Last 20 years?
While I was at the Saddledome Box Office Collecting my Fan Club tix, someone in front of me won the lottery = ROW 1 FLOOR.
To listen to the absolute JOY of these 2 guys screaming was fantastic. Pure excitement, and this is hours before the show started.
Thanks to the Band and the TEN CLUB......
I was really happy to get row 6, as well.
My 47th show.
J.
That is so awesome! When i was at the Hamilton show, a fan won the lottery when i was in line waiting for my tix. He jumped up and down screaming OMG OMG OMG first row, OMG OMG!
