I haven't really encoutered many snakes. Had a python round my neck in a display thingy once. But that's about it. I'm really not sure what I think about them ...

I have a friend that used to have a snake as a pet (I have no idea what kind, but it was big) and he would wrap it over his neck and take it out for walks. Strange fellow that one.

Personally, snakes don't bother me, so mark one down for friend!

I wonder why they call some men snakes? Is that for lying?
Never really got the connection there.

Snakes freak me out a bit but I think that is the startle effect...
the unexpected and well we got some very poisonous ones here,
have to be careful for copperheads here near the lake.

i love snakes. i wish there were more of them. my favorite part of any zoo is their snake/reptile house.
i've kept both lethal and none lethal snakes. i used to get bit by the none lethal ones quite a bit due to always looking for them and picking them up with my bare hands. a garder snake is a pissy little shit that has a fun little bite to 'em. they draw blood and bruise ya, it kinda hurts, but a good hurt.

i remember camping with dad and he was bitten by a copperhead or something when we were in this firewood pile. all he did was drink more beer and whiskey. he took a nap maybe. it was invigorating.

our first bad ass snake we kept was a columbian redtail boa. her name was Connie. she climbed the christmas tree every year and hung out for awhile. when she bit ya it was bloody, she got dad a few times.

no matter they are my pals. if you kill snakes you are not my pal.

If you kill snakes you are not my pal.

I was holding my bro's boa while he was cleaning the cage. He went into another room, and the boa started constricting my neck. Slider is almost 10 feet long. A little bit of cold water, and Slider was off me. He needed a stronger heat lamp. If you kill a chicken or cow... I'll be in your kitchen

I have suffered more python and anaconda bites, maybe I just happen to work with friendly boas

I hate this thread. Kingsnake (coral snake), cotton mouth, copperhead.

I really doubt you will every get to see one.

Not to derail the thread but does anyone know the purpose of the common housefly? Do they truly hold an important place in our ecosystems? Just had this conversation the other night so I thought I'd ask here.

    they eat shit

    No snakes do not.

How do fleas fit in the ecosystem? At least mosquitoes can carry disease

Diamondback Rattlers all over the dame place here. Well, I should say not exactly where I live, but a 10 minute drive and you'll see them. In about a month, they all start coming out to soak in the sun....you can't drive down the road without hitting one. :D
I played a round of golf in Fountain Hills, AZ yesterday....saw squiggle marks in the sand trap....they are coming!!

    Rats turned to "snakes"

    They don't eat, don't sleep
They don't feed, they don't seethe
Bare their gums when they moan and squeak
Lick the dirt off a larger one's feet
    They don't push, don't crowd
Congregate until they're much too loud
Fuck to procreate till they are dead
Drink the blood of their so called best friend

They don't scurry when something bigger comes their way
Don't pack themselves together and run as one
Don't shit where they're not supposed to
Don't take what's not theirs, they don't compare

    They don't scam, don't fight
Don't oppress an equals given rights
Starve the poor so they can be well fed
Line their holes with the dead ones bread

They don't scurry when something bigger comes their way
Don't pack themselves together and run as one (2x)
Don't shit where they're not supposed to
Don't take what's not theirs, they don't compare...

    Snakes...They don't compare (2x)

boas are pretty mild especially when fed often. pythons & anacondas will bite the hell out of you. a 10-12 foot burmese python is a big gnarly fucker who is all power & when they hit your arm it's a blood bath & painful. a hungry big snake is ready to fuck shit up. i liked keeping my pythons fed more often than not so i could handle them daily with no real threats.

asian water monitors... same deal. they enjoy biting & making you bleed. i'd hold the monitor i friended up to my nose & he'd fork tongue my nose. you could've bit my nose off w/ ease. he got my hands & arms often. again, feed the fuckers. but we can't be having overweight retiles either, comfortable & happy reptiles are lovely.

this ball python who lived w/ me ate a rat once a week if not two every ten days or so. plus mice as a small snack. this dude was beautiful & as ball pythons go, was absolutely harmless.

    non-venomous = friend
    venomous = foe

I tend to classify any animal who can easily kill me with one bite as a foe.

i classify any animal that can easily kill me as an animal to be respected.
