So, what we are suggesting is PJ21 at Loch Lomond with KT Tunstall, Idlewild and Simple Minds in support on a sunny Sunday in August.
They would obviously play the fan club only gig at King Tuts on the Saturday night. :D

Hugely in favour of Loch Lomond and Idlewild and the King Tuts idea would probably give me a heart attack if it came true. Simple Minds however should read Mudhoney or Alice In Chains!

    Hi Scots!

The Mrs. and I are planning a trip to Glasgow later this year.

I was wondering if it was easier to take a train (4.5 hours) to get to Glasgow from London, or is it easier to fly?

I noticed that most flights from London to Glasgow depart from airports other then LHR. Is it a chore to get from Heathrow to Gatwick, etc.

    Train vs Plane?

Also, in what part of Glasgow do you recommend we stay.....we like to go to record shops, clothing shops, etc.

    Thanks!

Joe - you guys have to go to a place called Oran Mor. The artwork in the hallway (and one of the main halls) is done by a local artist/author called Alasdair Gray, he's excellent. Plus the food is great!

There are so many live music venues in Glasgow there's bound to be something you can see when you're over here! We're probably going to be seeing Monster Magnet in Glasgow in late November. Not sure how long you're up here for, but depending on the weather (and if you're up for it) hire a car and head north for a few days - you won't regret it!

Not sure about flying vs train - both have their advantages and disadvantages. I'd just go with whatever is going to be cheapest (or quickest if time is more of an issue)! :)

Like many i hope PJ will play Scotland soon, its been too long. I have seen PJ 5 times and not once in Scotland.

Please remember we have other venues apart from Glasgow SECC. The sound in that place is not good.

For a small show there is Carling Academy Glasgow or the ABC. Outdoor shows Hamden Glasgow, Murrayfield Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, Scone Palace Perth. And a few other arenas eg Aberdeen AECC which is better than SECC in my opinion.

How awesome would that be!! Maybe they could do that like they did with London SBE in 2009 before some larger UK/Euro dates. Barrowlands is a great sounding venue and I've been to some memorable gigs there. I also love the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall which would be a cool place for a Benaroya style gig. Between suggestions for King Tut's, these and the obligatory SECC cowshed show we could have a Glasgow tour! Being environmentalists the band would appreciate the relatively small carbon footprint such a tour would leave behind.... ;)
