When a thread (like, for example, the one I posted about Fukushima-- and others) receives callous replies I begin to wonder if I should just give up here. I've been accused of wanting to leave because I don't like it that others disagree with me. Not so. My best friend- someone I would never "betray...to serve a cause" (Edward Abbey)- and I have had many a heated debate around issues we disagree on. What I don't like and won't tolerate is the pathetic efforts of certain people on this forum to bate, troll, discourage, belittle and uselessly provoke others. These kinds of actions are unbecoming to a forum based around a band with the intelligence and integrity of the members of Pearl Jam and the majority of members of this forum.

I agree...I gather some people just don't care I guess. That said would we feel the same way had this tradegy happened let's say in California or PA?

Dnt ever stop the fight, dnt just quit cuz u dnt think your helping...people are reading, thinking, always absorbing knowledge. It's the most powerful tool. I myself rarely post anymore, but I check in everyday to see what's going on. I get a lot of info from people like byrnzie, yosi and u...I'll fucken even include "godfather" too what the hell. What I'm getting at is dnt quit and walk away cuz u feel it's accomplishing nothing. Everything all of us bring in here has some effect on us all. The info I get in here is amazing! To get to hear 2 sides of the situation, to dissect the info and read between the lines and make my own beliefs, is fucken amazing...so Brian if u do decide to leave, thanks for posting and being a part of this. If u decide to stay, well, I'm waiting for a new post I can learn something new from.......

I've found the "ignore" button to have revolutionized my experience here.

Unfortunately, however, the ignore button doesn't keep trolls from bumping ridiculously old threads. This thread is evidence. ;)

If someone needs a break from something, they can just take one and return when they feel good about it again. No problem. There doesn't need to be an announcement.

Here's the thing. One often doesn't know when they've planted a seed with information or their opinion. Seeds take time to grow...it isn't an instant thing. All one can do is be true to themselves when discussing important issues...along with following those dang Posting Guidelines. That's just a given. Don't bother other people and it's not ok for them to bother you...stick to the topic. That's why there's an Ignore feature. Use it, don't feel bad about it. You control your experience to a large extent. Stay off your fellow members and, again, stick to the topic and things should be hunky dory. That's a requirement...to leave each other alone. It's about the issues, after all.

Going to close this. Just post as you have something to say, everyone...and feel free to ignore what you choose to ignore. It's good for the blood pressure.
    Falling down,...not staying down
