Or, if you don't want to get into the maths, you can try for the 'European lottery' : I got pushed all the way to the front fence on my first show. GA : :thumbup:0

I mean they know how much each of us spend on this site. It's kind of like looking after the people that look after you. All I really buy through the club is tickets so I would assume that my chances would be lowered by that fact. Just my theory.
nah, that theory doesn't hold water either because I have never spent a dime on anything
from the goods section and including last night I have now won the lottery 8 times.
since you need to purchase tickets via the Ten Club to be eligible for the lottery, and you have 0 ticket purchases in your account, I'd venture a guess that you've NOT won the lottery 8 times.

I don't know how they choose, but I was at Row1 in Toronto 2 and sometimes I still can't believe it. I never even had dreamed of such thing to happen. With my friend George, we passed the Greek flag to Eddie before Jeremy after his signal. We now have Mike and Eddie's pens and (most important) Eddie's saliva and DNA as he gave us his bottle of wine after Y. Led.
Many Congrats to the guy next to me who sang every single lyric and deserved to have Eddies bottle. Eddie had noticed him and gave him the bottle and a tambourine.
Travelled from Greece, spent 2500$ only for aeroplane, tickets and accomodation, but I had the once in a lifetime experience: 1st Row!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: I showed my ticket every 20 meters to the security guys and everyone told me to go further infront, and further infront. When I reached the 1st row, I almost had a heart-attack.Athens,GR-30/9/06

If a coint has been flipped 10 times and come up heads each time.
What are the odds of it coming up tails on the 11th flip.......

I wish fucking Stephen Hawkings would weigh in on this already.
I know the odds for each show are the same. I have never said differently. All I keep saying is the more shows you go to the better your chances of winning lottery tickets are. It's a very simple concept.
better chances of winning? You could also say the better chances of losing also."thru extensive negotiations we managed to get the curfew moved back..... we still don't have any time to fu&k around...."

It's still 50/50. This is not gambling however. I gamble quite a bit and I'm a poker player...I understand what you're saying. I'm not saying the statistics of one single show are affected by how many you have attended. A Pearl Jam virgin has the same shot for hitting the lottery at any random show as someone who has been to 200 PJ shows has as long as they both have tickets to the same show. I can't believe so many people have trouble realizing this concept. The more shows you attend in your life the more opportunities you have to win the lottery hence over time someone who has attended more shows simply by mathematics should have won the lottery more. Think of it this way. Two baseball players have identical skill levels and play the identical competitions...who is more likely to hit 500 home runs over their career...player A who played for five seasons and had 2500 at bats or player B who played for 20 seasons and had 10,000 at bats. Obvioulsy player B...they just had more oppotunities for the homeruns despite the exact conditions.0 -
Monty Hall problem, anyone? Or how about the "downwind faster than the wind" one. I love those, and have spent days arguing the math with friends and strangers over the internet.
About Stephen Hawking, we were in an elevator in Chicago after Alpine, and it announced the floor we were on with a computerized voice. My son said "They must have paid a fortune to get Stephen Hawking to do the elevator voice." I almost died laughing.
And, just because I feel the need again, a quote straight from the 10 Club, "These are chosen through a randomized selection. There is no “who you know” to it. We absolutely do not play that game, it’s just not what we are about."0 -
Here is some data for your number/ odds discussion:
I have attended 7 Pearl Jam shows...(not counting the two Ed solo shows I have seen)
I have purchased fan club tickets to 5 of these shows. (if you count PJ20 as two separate shows)
I have won the lottery twice. (9th row at Chicago 1 in 2009, and Front Row for PJ20 day 2)
So considering that i had a definite lawn ticket for night 1 of PJ20 you could say that out of 4 shows, I have won the lottery twice....what are the odds of that? If it helps my number is 430XXX a realllly high number.0 -

All the lotto winners I know joined in the past year and a half. I think they skewer the odds for the higher numbers, which is great for new joiners!0

I agree though, winners names should not be removed from winning to any other show of the tour. I am allowed to win the state and national lotteries as many times as I can. This should be no different.
I don't think the persons name should be taken out of the drawing...Just cross their name off for that row that already have won once on that tour...
Jeremy
Also, you have said numerous times that you were done with this topic, but yet you keep repeating the same tired statement over and over. We get it, you don't know what you are talking about. You need not convince us any further.0 -
