Thanks for the kind words. I may be going to see X on Friday. They are legendary and I've never seen them. Plus PJ has covered them.

Planning on making a December trip to Vegas to see X this year as well! Hope you get to see them, and have a great time!

    Merry "X"-mas!
Seen them many times - incl as an opener for PJ once in LA. You'll love them!

I'll post a short list that are the best "legendary" acts I've seen. I was lucky enough to work the performer's gate at SPAC from 1989 through 1992 so I got to see a lot of bands from that era.

#1 Bruce Springsteen and the ESB (about 6 or 7 times in Hartford, SPAC, Albany, MSG, Philly Spectrum)
#2 Pearl Jam (have seen a couple shows from the past tour and that one Lollapalooza stop at Saratoga in 92)
#3 David Bowie (1990 Sound and Vision tour at SPAC -- Warren Zevon opened)
#4 Guns N' Roses (1987 Appetite for Destruction tour and again in 1990 at SPAC)
#5 Neil Young (I know the PJ crowd will love this... A few hours before Neil's show in 1992(???) this beat-up, wood-panelled station wagon pulls up to the performers gate at SPAC. The driver is half hanging out of the driver's side window saying "Hey man!!!" as weed smoke is billowing out. There's golf clubs in the passenger seat and a bunch of crap filling up the rest of the car. He starts telling me how he needs to get down there but he has no credentials, so I'm sweating him pretty good. I'm like "dude -- if you don't have any credentials I can't let you backstage!?!" to which he replies "awww... maaaann. really, man??" I'm like "sorry, bro." My boss suddenly comes up behind me and waves the guy through. Boss gets a "thaaaanks man!!!" from the driver and a few seconds later my boos tells me I've been breaking Neil Young's balls for the past several minutes!)
#6 Eric Clapton (1991? at SPAC)
#7 Carlos Santana (around 1991. This driver showed up at the performer's gate without credentials and I nearly turned him around until he showed me Carlos' 24K gold plated Gibson Les Paul, which I watched him play so hard he broke a string later that night. Great show.
#8 Van Halen (1985? Hartford Civic Center... again in 1988? with Hagar. Both bands could shake the rafters. Lotsa boobies on display for David Lee Roth. During the Hagar show Eddie sat on the edge of the stage and played an extended version of Rupture between gulps of Jack Daniels)
#9 Stevie Nicks (saw her take a digger getting off her tour bus behind the amphitheater at SPAC ca. 1992 -- but man, can she sing)
#10 Foo Fighters (just saw their show at MSG -- wow! )

oops -- should add Alice in Chains, too. Daughter will kill me otherwise!

I starting going to concerts in the late 70s, so ive caught a few good ones over the years.

Rolling Stones (a bunch of times, but '78 and '81 stand out)
The Who - saw them a bunch as well. '79, '82 (Pontiac Silverdome with the Clash) and a couple of shows at MSG on the '00 tour were the best
Led Zeppelin - Best show Ive ever seen
Black Sabbath with Van Halen - MSG '78
    Pink Floyd
Springsteen - saw him a bunch. the '78 and '80 tours were the best, especially the '78 Darkness tour - 3 hours in a small hall
Neil Young & Crazy Horse (a bunch of times -- the '86 show was pretty good - 20 min version of Down by the River; 1991 with Sonic Youth and Social Distortion was also memorable)
Ramones - Dr Pepper Music Festival 1981
    Queen
David Bowie a bunch of times -his birthday show at MSG 1997 was pretty amazing (Bowie backed by Foo Fighers, Frank Black, Robert Smith, Sonic Youth, others)
    Deep Purple '85 and '87
AC/DC - saw them 5 times with Bon Scott '78-79. Best was probably with Cheap Trick opening up.
Radiohead - OK Computer tour 1998
Smashing Pumpkins at the Academy (Warm up club show for the Mellon Collie infinite sadness tour)
Rainbow w/Dio on vocals (AC/DC opened)

    The Kinks
    Bad Company
    Alice Cooper

    The Cure
    Talking Heads
