Why not make it profitable for a company to be green?

That would be an excellent start and green markets are starting up- the question is- how fast? And yes, people want stuff but when what they really need is food, most "stuff" will seem just what it is, stuff. Peak oil will cure us of our addiction to so many non-essentials. Asia will not continue endlessly producing these things either- they too will run short of cheap energy (oil) and, sadly, many Asian countries have already trashed their environment. Hopefully they too will get on board with greening before it's too late. Again, why EVERYBODY isn't is beyond me. :(

they cheered when cain repeated "if you don't have a job and you aren't rich it is your fault" postion...

the crowd was predominantly white middle aged folks.

perry and romney had a few testy exchanges....romney dissed perry saying "rick is coming off a couple of bad debates" and my reply while watching it on tv was "WOOT!!"

He's not all wrong, and certainly not all right.

But reality aside, what makes him and his people think this is a good message to win an election?

He's playing to the base right now to get the nomination. He will change his tune if he gets the nom and ends up going toe to toe with Obama-- he even mostly agreed with Ron Paul's response to that question, so he's already given himself an out. Politics is all about the art of doublespeak. I don't see Herman staying the frontrunner for much longer. I'm hoping for a scenario where all of the neo-cons up there just beat themselves up to the point of implosion and my man Ron sneaks in and steals it-- or, he makes The GOP the ultimatum: nominate me, or I run third party. He knows for damn sure that the country will likely be no better off with any of those other clowns in office, nor Obama, so if he doesn't get the nomination it's likely to be status quo for another 4 years no matter what. He's retiring from politics if he doesn't get the nomination, so he doesn't owe The Republican Party or anyone else anything come November of next year-- unless he gets elected :)

Yes, a couple of them. I've dumped all but Mitt, Ron Paul, and John Huntsman from my list though.

Calling a lack of willingness to make at least some cuts in military spending "economic suicide," Paul stated: "We have enough weapons to blow up the world about 20, 25 times. We have more weapons than all the other countries put together essentially. And we want to spend more and more, and you can't cut a penny? I mean, this is why we are at an impasse." Rep. Paul then challenged his opponents to come up with some genuine spending cuts: "I want to hear somebody up here willing to cut something, something real. This budget is in bad shape, and the financial calamity is going to be much worse than anybody ever invading this country."

"Foreign aid, it should be the easiest thing to cut. It's not authorized in the Constitution," Paul countered. "To me, foreign aid is taking money from poor people in this country and giving it to rich people in poor countries." Paul proposed a budget plan this week that would zero out foreign aid in year one,

what about these statements makes Paul a clown and unfit to lead.
what exactly do you disagree with here?

You may not like Bachmann and you may think all of the neocons are nuts...but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater...I challenge anyone to read about Paul's policies and his record and tell me he is anything like the others on that stage...

i agree with paul in this regard, but will the people whose votes really matter, the congress who will vote on his budget, go along with it? i seriously doubt it.

I saw one of the earlier debates and Huntsman seems like the only one who can express a cohesive thought and he gave the impression that he put some effort into how an idea translates to reality. Of course, he also has very little support amongst Republicans.

I really think that he would have enough support in congress to get much of what he wants...Right now the person who would gain the most bi partisan political support for foreign policy would be Paul. More democrats would support his policies over President Obama's. At least that is my opinion. I think if Paul were to get elected, much of the reason why would be his economic plan and budget responsibility. Congress would be certainly hard pressed to disagree with him, and it would be an even harder sell to the American people as to why they disagree with someone like Paul in office consistently calling them on their bs. I just don't see him wilting like Obama has in regards to what he wants.
I think with Paul being willing to take the political heat that comes with tough decisions, they wouldn't be that disagreeable. I just don't see him making decisions solely to get re-elected like most presidents...and that alone sets him apart in my mind.

Santorum is beyond pathetic at this point. All he did was attack other people on the stage last night, and the only one he even came close to getting the best of was Rick Perry. This guy needs to leave the race the first chance he gets. He looks like he's in pain when he talks.

I watched the last 45 minutes of the debate last night and it was incredibly pathetic. They are a bunch of idiots.

I agree with some of what Paul says, but for gods sake, get a fucking suit that fits.

Dude can't explain it. No one can explain it. So state taxes aren't going to go away but you are going at add a 9% sales tax and people aren't going to pay a 17% sales tax? Possibly the easiest question of the plan if the plan made any sense.

Perry says it was a ‘mistake’ for him to participate in 2012 debates

So, basically his biggest mistake was letting the American public hear him talk without a script.
