Sometimes, you just gotta appreciate history, ya know? The Temple stuff was just a touching moment to behold, and, as Ed said, something we might not see again. Ever.
All in all, PJ played for 5 1/2 hours this weekend. That's still a lot of Ed singing PJ songs.
I just dont like most of the TOTD music. I am sure it was a fun weekend with lots of great music all the way around. Id rather hear EV sing footsteps, rival, i got shit, in hiding, present tense (how did that not get played?).......tis all. But I could have left after wash and been happy. Just breaking shit down as usual on the board.
Glad you had a blast. No better feeling than saying "what a fucking show" over and over to yourself while grinning madly. Dont let others criticism get to you. I just aint worth it.Post edited by Get_Right on0 -

Like some have said, we should just be grateful for such an event. I also didn't hear a few songs I wanted but c'mon we got a great set sunday and it was a rare night. The whole crowd seemed in sync with the band and where I was sitting everyone was standing and singing to every song. I don't think i can become jaded so easily to begin complaining about a PJ show, but then again I haven't seen as many as some of the members on here but, it was a great night and how many times are you ever gonna get to see totd do a set during a PJ set? The only real issue I had was The Strokes going on after QOSTA.0

I love Brussels sprouts and when I sit down and eat a huge bowl in front of someone who hates them I still enjoy every last bite
Threads getting locked because of people's harmless comments...weird!
Is this not what a review / comment board is for? Good or Bad / Happy or Sad?
Or is it only good comments now?
Are the people making good comments trying to ruin it and make it seem better for the people that had a bad time?
The people complaining aren't going to ruin it for me in any way, I know that for sure but if I was a complainer I would like to be able to do so without any backlash or censorship.
Everyone has their own opinion...let them have it....PERIOD.Oh dear dad
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll ride the wave
Where it takes me
I'll hold the pain

This message board is for opinions so the haters can hate. Everyone just needs to remember that this message board represents only a fraction of Pearl Jam's fans. I met so many people this weekend that never use this board that were diehard fans nonetheless. And everyone I spoke to was blown away by Chris Cornell. I'm just not into negativity even when I don't like something. I believe in freedom of speech but I also adopted the philosophy if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say it. It's like why waste your time if you really feel that negative about something anyway. Just go away. But maybe this is the only place negative people have to go as they probably don't have any friends that want to hear their bull0
-
Maybe posts are being locked cause people don't want to read the bullshit either
It was a massive event
Once in a lifetime oppurtunity. That only, what, maybe 3-5% of fans got to go to.
People who weren't lucky enough to go don't want to read whinging bullshit from the very limited few who were able to make it
It's good to read some happy comments coming in finally and it makes me feel that in a tiny way I was part of it from 58226618295 kilometers awaymakes much more sense to live in the present tense0 -

What was your favorite song?
Night 2. No question. STBC. the floor was shaking and the band was on fire. TOTD was slower and less energy from the crowd, but those songs are slower...We had a blast 60+ songs, two nights and only two repeats (TOTD). Yeah I would have liked some Binaural, but there's always Toronto! Thanks

PJ20 didnt live up to expectations and that is that.
Depends on your expectations.
Personally, I first started listening to Pearl Jam in 1992, when I was 12. The two songs that got me into the band were Alive and Hunger Strike (I didn't quite get the whole Soundgarden/PJ/TOTD backstory at the time, I just knew the song sounded badass). That was the beginning of a lifelong fandom that's seen me attend nearly 30 shows, including PJ20.
So for me, seeing Cornell up there to perform TOTD was well beyond anything I expected, in a good way.
I'm sure some people had expectations of seeing Neil, Bono, Pete Townshend, Dave Grohl, Jerry Cantrell, Jack Irons, Dave A., the ghost of Layne Staley and whoever else you could think of. So yes, for them PJ20 didnt live up to expectations.
I would personally have preferred only one night of TOTD, and not to hear Reach Down twice. Granted. However, I would have never, in my entire life, expected to hear either Stardog Champion or All Night Thing, two songs I love, and I got to hear both performed by most of or all of their original artists. That, to be, was well beyond anything I expected, in a good way.
Plus I got to see two killer sets by QOTSA and the Strokes. Also pretty awesome.
You can't please everyone all the time. I had an excellent time and can't wait to see them three more times next week.Post edited by kid canada on'96: Toronto / '00: Toronto, Montreal / '03: Buffalo, State College, Toronto, Montreal, NYC I & II, Hershey / '04: Toledo, Grand Rapids / '05: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto / '06: Toronto I & II / '07: Chicago (The Vic), Lolla / '09: Toronto / '11: PJ20 I & II, Montreal, Toronto I & II / '13: London ON, Wrigley, Buffalo, Brooklyn I & II / '16: Toronto I & II, Fenway I & II / '18: London UK I, Wrigley I & II, Fenway I0 -
