To be fair, they did skip over some songs, like Corduroy and Dirty Frank for example, gave the show a weird vibe. And I guess the critics were expecting more guest appearances.

I just don't understand the bitching about Temple of the Dog...they only play together once every what, 20 years?

I think that they should've done three nights. And I really wish it was at the Gorge, but I guess Dave Matthews Band has that territory locked up on Labor Day Weekends every year.

if these were any other shows everyone would of had hard on's pretty sure people hyped this up to much in their own mind! and I'm sure they'll play corduroy at about 90% of the remaining shows...dirty frank maybe not ;)

I thought the shows were great and I listened through a cell phone stream. I am thankful for that very much ! I think for the occasion the setlists were done very well. For the 20 year Annerversary, we got a pretty nice over view. Night one showcased alot of history (pre pearl jam), and it is understandable. Night 2 brought some more PJ rarities, and hits. For those complaining a TOTD reunion doesn't happen every day. It's a pre requisitete of PJ's 20 yr History, same with MLB. They know that, so that is why they decided to honor it. read between the lines people. Epic setlists for both nights. 8-)

Lots if us aren't fans of totd and came to see and hear eddie sing. Lots of fans here were pretty disappointed. Including some that came from europe. The totd sets just sucked the life out of the shows...everyone around me both nights sat down for them w the exception of hungry strike.

They played together at Santa Barbara '03 and Los Angeles '09. I'm not saying that because I don't like the fact that Cornell joined them at PJ20, but it wasn't the first time in 20 years.

  • There's always going to be people you can't make happy. I too was halfway around the world, grateful for Garry's feed, and to PerilJam relaying for me while I was at work today. Every time I read a setlist, of course there's songs I think should be there, but I think attendees hyped this up in their minds way too much.

I would love to have been there, and would have been grateful for every song, and to see TOTD.

Temple of the Dog was a tribute to Andy Wood, without his death, there more than likely would have never been a Pearl Jam. It was a huge, not to mention a great album, in the beginning of PJ. It was a celebration of 20 years. I know some dont like Cornell, but I think it was fitting to pay homage to the 1 guy, (Wood) who was kind of responsible for the 20 years (and more) of PJ we got.

  • It was PJ20 you dumdums. How many of you were around 18-19 years ago? If you don't understand why they would play temple of the dog with chris cornell and how it is fucking beautiful that they did you need to go and fuck yourselves. Seriously. With all of the bullshit merch nonsense those setlists are what truly make a rock and roll show, especially an anniversary show, something to be celebrated. Too many dumb fucks on the boards these days. Which is why it is so hard to come here. Go hang out in the eddie looks hot thread.

  • i think most people don't understand the meaning of pj20 and that's why got upset.

pj20 was not "let's play your favorite songs."
pj20 was not "let's play the rarest songs"
pj20 was not "let's play only what this guy wants to hear"
pj20 was not "let's play for 45 hours straight so everyone will be happy"

PJ20 was a celebration of being together for 20 years which ed has stated should be easy but isn't and it's lucky they got to be around for the good years.
PJ20 was about pearl jam still rocking, still enjoying what they do, still making amazing music.
PJ20, like it or not, was not about YOU, it was about THEM! it was more like, they were throwing a party with their closest friends and with the people that mean the most to them and allowing us to participate.

it's an immense thing, being able to make it to 20 years without a break up or anything else that other bands go through. it was about seeing where they came from, seeing what started it all, seeing how much they've changed and grown as a band and as individuals, and thanking the people who got them to that point, whether it be the fans, their wives/girlfriends, brendan o'brien, the supporting bands, or each other. it wasn't about us. it was about them. and people need to get over it and celebrate.

No doubt. People need to read this post and shut the fuck up. So many more Pearl Jam fans are complete idiots than I realized. Sad to miss these shows but not sad to miss these crowds.

    A fucking men.

I've been listening to pearl jam for 20 years
I've been loving them for 20 years
The set lists were amazingly unpredictable. I was listening to a feed so sad cause I couldn't be there but so happy that someone had tried their hardest to share the experience with other fans. (thanks to Garry I believe your name is)

Unfortunately I think too many asshats had to pay 1300 bux to go to these unbelievable shows

Suspect next time you should save your cash and go to some pop act. Least then they'll play every predictable song you wanna hear.

So, what do you mean that it's unfortunate that 'too many asshats had to pay $1300 to go to these unbelievable shows?' Are they asshats for paying it? Are you saying the band was wrong for charging $1300? Because it sounds like you think that when you say 'too many'. Sounds like you have empathy for those that did.
