I love me some Weezer and will be going to see them at the upcoming Philly show. The couple of new songs I have heard are not so exciting but I'll give the album a shot

very impressed with the effort they put in to this one. Light years beyond the last two and I'd probably put it somewhere around green/maladroit in my rankings (3 & 4)
Back to the Shack is certainly the worst thing on the album
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Agreed about it being in the Green/Maladroit league as well as Back to the Shack being the worst song on the record.
    Really solid album.

I saw them play the Troc in Philly a couple weeks back. I though the show was pretty lame. Their set was only about an hour and a half (over before 10 pm). The whole audience kept standing around after the show waiting for something else to happen. They played the whole new album and a few fan favorites. I guess it wasn't a bad show, I was just underwelmed, Maybe I am just spoiled by Pearl Jam and may other fine bands,

A once close friend of mine tried out for these guys years ago, like years ago and they liked the way he played bass but didn't like him as a person. For once, I can agree with Wezzer. But I can't stand these guys. I don't like their shtick of trying to be an uncool band to be a cool band. Know why I mean? Lol
  • Blue Album still gets rotation but the others I listened to some when they came out and never really stuck with me.
I know it got way too much play over the years but I still rock the fuck out to Undone. Love that whole record but I crank the fuck out of that one at least once a week. Just did it now, thanks for the inspirado!

The Blue Album is so fucking good. Love every song on that album. I'll never get tired of Undone and Say It Ain't So. Definitely has to be in my top 20 albums of all time.

Few of my friends were at that show. Looking at the set list it looked like a great show. Yeah they played some of the hits but left out a few which i was surprised like the sweater song and hash pipe.

I think it's their best album since Pinkerton.

Anyone going to an upcoming show? I didn't grab a poster at the Philly show and now I am regretting it. I think they are using the same poster for the whole tour. http://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/197524

After listening to Rivers's interview with Marc Maron on WTF, I found out they had a new album that was released last year. After a couple of spins, I'm really enjoying it.

The Blue Album and Pinkerton are both classics. The Green Album was solid. After that I lost interest. I like a few other songs here and there, but I haven't bought one of their albums in years.

    My sentiments exactly.

Love the blue album! One of my favorite albums of the 90s. But to this day, I will never understand the lovefest for Pinkerton. Outgrew them beyond that.

I gave up on them after the red album but came back when their last one came out and it's their best album since Maladroit.

Well...it's catchy. I'll give it that. It's missing guitars though. I hope this doesn't mean another Raditude type album is coming. EWBAITE and the White Album were soooo good. I'd hate to see them break a good run.

I've always really like their Letterman debut:

^^^ Oh man, I hadn't seen that in a while.  I correct myself.  I freakin' love it!

This one's great too but brings up a major frustration for me.  I love these live clips.  Most of those I've seen I really dig, a lot!  But I've never kept any of their albums.  Heavy handed production, and something about the overall sound doesn't work for me.  And they all seem to lack the spontaneity and VIGOR of these live performance.

    Anyway, this rocks...

Just saw a post online by the great Butch Walker that he produced this album. I've been a fan of Butch's work for a long time. To the poster above though who doesn't care for Weezer's production- it's not likely to change here. Butch can strip production back for certain if that's the direction the artists wants to take, but I don't see any sign of Weezer wanting that after hearing the two singles.

If they quit after Pinkerton they'd be alternative legends.
