In AV's defense, with only two acts scheduled there all summer many who work for the venue may be worrying about their jobs. Tensions might be running high. It sounds to me like whomever runs their Facebook page had a bad day yesterday. I would give this person the benefit of the doubt.

There is a way to respond to questions and criticism while still giving perspective without sounding like an asshole.

    Bad PR indeed.

I think Alpine needs to be more careful about what is said there for liability issues. I can just see something happening and then someone pointing to those comments.

They should know better, just read some of the comments that were made about things they already had to deal with.

agreed. I still think it's strange that you can get a tube INSIDE the venue, but you can't bring one it. Yet you can bring a small lawn chair in, as well as a small soft-sided cooler.

ANYWAY....I'm hoping to get one outside the venue. If that fails, I guess I'll get one inside.

I'm sure they'll be printing plenty of posters...

Bad PR you say? Why cause they are telling the truth on what you can or can't do at Alpine?

If people insult the venue doesn't the venue have the opportunity to stand up and defend themselves? :?

People are always gonna bitch no matter what I guess.

I read the comments and they didn't seem bad to me. I'd prefer a real person answering in a real manner, rather than the corporate-speak fakeness that you see on so many facebook/twitter accounts. I thought they made some valid points regarding the tailgating. I'm sure no one here participates in the things Alpine said they had to deal with, but businesses do have to be careful.

No. It is always bad PR to get into a pissing contest on Facebook. The person who responds to AV's Facebook obviously had a bad day and I don't think it is that big of a deal. But it isn't something that should be defended.

"Corporate-speak" can still be truthful yet respectful...There are a ton of whiny (insert your choice of word) on these boards (no offence) and you dont see Kat, Sea, Santos, etc. gettin sassy with anyone. It's just not how a professional organization should operate.

No, it's perfectly fine to respond to questions and concerns, but you do want to have some good will between the venue and customer (fan).

While I agree with much of what the venue's Facebook mouth-piece had to say, I disagree with the tone in which they replied.

I think whoever replies on Alpine's page has had to put up with alot of BS comments and questions. Phish and DMB fans still can't get over that they passed on Alpine this yr. So you have those fans and the PJ fans and whoever else replying on there. We all have bad days and maybe last nite it was a bad day for Alpine.

I like that somebody is on there replying usually pretty fast.

FB it's so easy to mix up what somebody's tone is.

Alpine will never loose me as a customer. I hope it doesn't loose any of you after this EPIC weekend.

Oh well the sun is out and were what 15, 16 days away?

Lets keep that in mind and please everyone have a safe and great time. :)

I have to put up with a lot of asshole clients on a daily basis...it's part of my job. I would be reprimanded should I speak unprofessionally...especially on a company website (facebook, twitter page).

"Bottle caps are fine! Bunch of haters on here! We're giving you 3 weeks notice! Geez."

    and

"I have a hard time understanding why you "like" this page. I go back and count 7 seperate comments you've made - all negative. You must be a blast at parties.

Maybe they had been working on their tailgating skills beforehand? :D
