nice to see this thread back.
perry is fucking finished.
have you been watching the news cycles on this guy?
he is stupid.
he is a political lightweight.
he is more w. then w. himself.
game over.
i'll be voting for obama.
thanks.
that said... never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter. On either side of the aisle.
smartest thing you ever posted that i have read! WOOT!
This is What America Needs!
former Texas gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman ......
"So, would I support Rick Perry for president? Hell, yes! As the last nail that hasn't been hammered down in this country, I agree with Rick that there are already too damn many laws, taxes, regulations, panels, committees, and bureaucrats. While Obama is busy putting the hyphen between 'anal' and 'retentive' Rick will be rolling up his sleeves and getting to work."
"Obama has done for the economy what pantyhose did for foreplay," he wrote. "I would support Charlie Sheen over Obama."
Yeah, I'll take an accomplished law student over a trigger-happy dolt who got a D average and posed for douchebag pictures intended to make his penis look bigger any day, thanks.

And a follow-up question. Do you know who Kinky Friedman is? Nobody takes a word out of his mouth seriously. He's a drunken country singer who decided to run for Governor on the platform of "The De-Wussification Of Texas" and thought he could win on the strength of the "beer drinker and country music lover" vote.
Using a quote from this guy...
doesn't really help your argument.

The guy in the photo on the left looks like someone who wants to be worshipped. Swell. But the kid in the right hand photo looks like someone I'd like to meet- content, bright, personable, nothing to hide behind. Nice!

Yeah the kid on the right sort of reminds me of Richard Pryor....an easy going kind of a guy that would crack a joke.

oh ugh... Obama is/was unqualified and a disaster.
RICK PERRY FOR THE WIN!
Ok but if yqou feel he was/is unqualified.. Why not try to find a republican who IS qualified and not just one who can win on style and pictures of him and his flying phallic symbol?
You got penis on your mind...that's cool and all. I see a patriot in that photo. I see a proven winner with a proven track record. I see someone that is going to kick the current occupant the fuck out! Bring back America Rick! Bring her back!
Yeah. He's on the right with the hat and the cigarette in his mouth. Next to the douchebag with the RayBans trying to look like Tom Cruise in Top Gun.
I see a proven winner with a proven track record.
Well winner, yes... although he's had a pretty bumpy presidency so far. I'll you this... the guy on the left is a proven loser with a horrible track record of fudging numbers to make himself look good and a history of robbing Peter to pay Paul. Not what I think "America needs."
I see someone that is going to kick the current occupant the fuck out!
Don't be silly.. he wasn't going to run for president for about 20 years after that picture was taken.... and the previous president's term ended. So he didn't kick him out of the white house.
Bring back America Rick! Bring her back!
back to... what? how we were the last time we had an underachieving fly boy former Governor of Texas as president? No thanks.
That's actually kinda the democrat platform and Obama sure lives it.
The subtext is robbing peter to pay paul (to do nothing and stay at home).
OK, I can't agree with that.
It seems that President Obama wants to raise taxes on the ultra-rich so the working middle class and the working poor can just keep their heads above water. Republicans have fought him tooth and nail on that. They want the ultra rich to not pay what they should. And the burden falls to the working poor and middle class.
I strongly disagree that the middle class and working poor "do nothing and stay home." The American work force is the backbone of the country and by giving the ultra rich a nearly-free ride, that backbone is about to break.
The bank bailout was done by President Bush. The banks robbed their customers blind, almost went out of business doing it and then-President Bush took the tax payer's money and wrote a blank check to the banks... and we never actually found out what they did with that money AND nothing changed... they're still doing all the same things they were before.
So... let's not say that it's a "Democrat" thing to do, OK? That's just not accurate.
usamamsan1, you never answered my question about whether or not you're from Texas, but it was pretty much rhetorical anyway, it's clear you're not. I would suggest you visit Texas, or at least talk to a lot of Texans about how things actually are here, and what he has actually done before you get behind the guy.
If Obama is a disaster, this guy is a clusterfuck. Perry likes to talk about all the jobs Texas creates, but what he leaves out is how many we lose.
That's an interesting video from a local Texas TV station (forget it's on a Ron Paul site, they're just hosting the video that comes from a news broadcast made several years ago) in which they fact check the exact same claim that he is currently making, except that time it was during a Gubernatorial race. And when they actually ask him about the ratio of jobs lost to created, you can see he has no comeback. Yes 100,000 jobs were created, but more than 100,000 jobs were lost, and the unemployment rate went up.
Texas is actually in the same boat as the rest of the country as far as the economy and unemployment goes, but people that just take Rick Perry at his word think this is the promised land and that he can do for the rest of the country what he did here.
Don't even get me started on our bankrupted education system, and the thousands of teachers who lost their jobs in the past year. I believe the total number of teachers or education employees that have lost their jobs is, funny enough, 100,000.
You should also look up some of the many other things Perry has done during his time as Governor. The HPV Vaccine debacle, where the mandated that all girls in Texas had to get this vaccine which just so happened to be made by a pharmaceutical company that contributed to his campaign. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I suggest you actually read into some of the shady stuff Perry has done, and talk to some people who actually live here instead of just listening to his talking points.
I could type for days about the various shady things, or just stupid things Perry has done here. And when you think about it, in one of the darkest red states in the country, in the last race the Democratic candidate actually got 42% of the vote, that should tell you something. To see a Democrat get that much of the vote you have to go all the way back to 1994 when George W. Bush defeated the incumbent Governor Ann Richards.
And as somebody who didn't like President George W. Bush, I actually admit that he was a way better Governor than Rick Perry. He didn't really do much, but he didn't fuck too much up. The same can not be said for Perry. And it's a cold day in hell when I actually stick up for Bush or praise any part of his political career.

The National Organization for Marriage announced Friday, August 26, that Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has signed its pledge to vigorously oppose marriage for homosexuals.

i thought the focus was supposed to be on jobs, not on social issues like this that give perry 0 chance of winning over independents.....

The National Organization for Marriage announced Friday, August 26, that Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has signed its pledge to vigorously oppose marriage for homosexuals.
OK.
And?
That just means that he's just what I said he was.... a spineless twit who allows himself to be bullied by special interest groups. This was a guy who, a few months ago, said he had no problem with New York passing gay marriage because it was a "states rights" thing. And now he no longer supports that because he's been ordered not to.
And Rick Perry follows the orders of unelected Christian activists. Because he's a deplorably stupid and bad leader.
You know that NOM is a group of 6 people who just send out nasty press releases and stage fucked up bus tours to promote "Traditional Marriage" which is odd since the leader is Maggie Gallagher who's on her second marriage... she had a child out of wedlock between them... and although she's "married," she's never been seen with her "husband" who travels the world with a "male companion" to compete in Bridge tournaments?
Go ahead and support him. Clearly you don't know to quit when you're (a horse's) behind.

Sounds to me like Rick Perry would do well to go back and watch Spencer Tracy in the great film, "Inherit the Wind".
If you haven't seen this movie in a while, now's a great time to give it a viewing.

Ugh, we certainly don't need people who volunteer their time to help their communities, do we?
We need those self-centered guys who only do something if there's something in it for them.
