i thought she didn't have any family. i can see (in my own family) where it could easily happen, the young ones are very involved in their own lives or have their nose in their ipad, ipod, laptop or their ear to the cell phone which is a direct quote of my relative after his offspring came up north to see them for only 1.5 days; yet is a world traveler. some family members from this side i'm mentioning -- do not even answer me when I send them facebook emails. I'd rather leave my money to charity than them!

    perhaps she wasn't alone
    could be visitors came by
maybe existing inside the walls these things
    some kinda different energy
    dark or light
    a colorless transparent universe's doorway
    where spirits come and go
    inbetween our lives and deaths

the police need to look in her attic (like stalker Gary Busey lived in an attack "Hider in the house") or her basement to see if a homeless person was living there.

So heartbreaking. How did no one, not even a neighbour come and check on her? Event to just say, "Hello"?

What a lonely life...and death... I hope she did not suffer long when she was dying... :(

what about the dead body odor? a woman died in a local apartment building here and was found after 3 days.
it took a year to get the odor out of the hallway on the floor where she lived. her apt was cleaned as soon as they found her but for some reason, it stayed in the hall, even after the carpet was steam cleaned.

that is sad, but it sounds fishy.
body odor from dead or living lingers for ages
yes it soaks itself into walls, ceilings, and floors
even concrete is penetrated by odor

after this woman death she probably only gave off any serious funk for a few months at best
once flesh is decomposed the passing gives off zero odor, yes/no?
(of course i am only speculating all of this beings i am no forensic scientist)
You're correct in the sense that the decomposition only gives off an odor for so long, once the gasses have been completely released and the body tissues are no longer viscuous, the smell lessens, and begins to take on this musty/mold smell, and that only lasts til the soft tissue decomposes. But even then it is considerably lesser than the initial de-comp smell. what I don't get about this is.. isn't it super hot in Sydney in the summers?? And unless this lady died with the Air Conditioning on for months on end, heat increases de-comp, and thus the smell. surely SOMEONE would have noticed..?

That is just so weird...wouldn't somebody have noticed that her bills weren't getting paid? A landlord, a government representative, anyone? It boggles my mind that a house could just sit empty for 8 years and no one would go near it.

even if her house (mortgage) was paid off, what about property taxes? I guess in the U.S., a reclusive person in the U.S. could be dead in their house til tax time?

i think it was like 2 weeks or something
his mum noticed and she hadn't been in touch with him for 2 weeks
    and then they found him

that, to me, is equally heartbreaking

all of this is - the sadness that no one even checked on her. i understand people are busy with their own lives and stuff but what about friends? people must have tried to call her, check the house, something.

i find it hard to believe that someone can go unnoticed for that long - even if they don't speak to their family.
    it's horrible.

if they had a lot of money couldnt bill collectors just do automatic withdrawl or whatever its called

then propery taxes increase... a signature is needed to cover new paperwork trail

    weird situation

Thoughts_Arrives, I agree that it is very disappointing that much of society has become "each man for himself".

Yet, I have to ask: Why the lady did not venture out prior to connect with people also? I wonder if she was mentally ill, which caused her to "fall out" with the ones she loved. Probably would explain her passing away all alone. So sad indeed to fall between the cracks of society to never be seen or noticed, even when you die. :(

Stuff like this also make me think of her thoughts in the final moments...
Did she reflect on her regrets...loves...success...failures...family...friends...?
Was she even lucid enough to know what was happening in her final moments?

It is so terribly sad to hear that she was alone, and there is no one that can celebrate her.

R.I.P. Natalie Wood of Sydney, Australia
Lots of love, light and hugs to you all!
