Bummed to say I missed Glen’s set I may have to find a single to Hartford just to see him as I heard tons of great reviews from people in the building. Overall an amazing show that produced lasting memories and many highlights. Though I would like to offer my perspective on a couple issues before I get into my overall review:

Cameras since the warnings about camera use where included in the pre-show email from ten club as well as posted EVERYWHERE in the venue what exactly did you all expect? Also don’t you think that request is coming from the man himself? As a general rule my wife is the rule follower where I am the rule breaker when she asked if she should bring our camera I said to just leave the temptation at home. That being said I think if you want a pic they can be had with patients there is no need to start snapping shots the moment he hits the stage hold off till a calmer moment snap a quick one and be done, really how many shitty cell phone pics does one person need? I ended with great seats in row J with no one in the seat directly in front of me so believe me I wish I did take my camera but I would have only taken a shot our two if I had it.

Thieves of silence the yellers not that bad the ones that did so while Ed was mid-sentence I don’t understand where your head is didn’t you pay to listen to this guy (singing or just talking between songs) I for one love Ed’s banter and think it adds to the uniqueness of the show. I personally didn’t care for the score of the game being yelled out during songs but that is probably because I could care less that a group of millionaires on Ice skates just won a silver cup that another group of millionaires will use to raise ticket prices next year but hey that’s just me.

Thieves of silence the talkers. I was seated in row J right orchestra and whomever was sitting in row k right orchestra seats 116-122 were quiet confused and obviously thought that people paid to listen to their personal tales, commentary and flight planes all while Ed was playing! So to all you pretentious asshats out there STFU. The moment I almost lost it on these people is when I had to listen to the breakdown of flight plans to San Diego during Arch!!!!! Are you flipping kidding me during Arch and you consider yourself a fan! Go out to the lobby you prick. Thank goodness for my cool headed wife or me and that tool would have had words.

Ok That is all I have for BS, Ed was Amazing and I also found the six uke songs to open way more enjoyable then I expected and better then the album not that anyone should be surprised by this anymore. Did anyone else notice Ed having a hard time hitting the high notes for instance at the end of You’re True? Not that it mattered he still sounded awesome! Oh my Sometimes coming out of the all uke openers just wow, getting chills just thinking about it. Very smooth version of Just Breath different from last year’s tour as there were no strings this was a highlight of my wife’s. Alt Betterman forget-about-it another highlight Is there anything this man cannot do with a stringed instrument? The ITW run that came next was fantastic I thought ed started really hitting a stride at this point. Which lead into Unthought Unknown broken down it was so simple Ed’s voice and lyrics rang through the hall like a gospel and were yet another highlight of the show for my wife and I. The end came across much like just breath almost new because of the lack of strings from last year’s tour. Leads us in to Arch regardless of the fools behind me I was able to get my self sunk into it was really great to see live. Encore opened with to tried and true EV covers in fact both where songs that I used to get my wife’s ears tuned into Ed’s voice years ago when she had a hard time hearing him through PJ’s music. Sweet sing-a-long for elderly Woman. Sleepless nights w/Glen Hansard Was a total surprise highlight it came off seamless as if they had done it 1000’s times before but as Ed alluded to it was there first time in from of a crowd. I thought my wife was going to lose it when society started another highlight for us both. Porch another testament to the musician that Ed Vedder is this song is 20 years old and sounded as fresh and still polished it rocked but in a more subtle way obviously then it does with PJ I don’t think this song will ever get old. Hard Sun sent everyone one there way with plenty of energy for the ride home and I will always remember looking over at my wife while Ed was doing the chant towards the end of the song she was in her own little word I had to wipe a bit of drool from her chin as her lust-filled gaze was fully lock on Mr. Vedder.
Wow this review is a lot longer than I expected but as I was writing it was like reliving the show so I didn’t want to stop and just kept going. A couple of other observations I was personally impressed by the amount of sound Ed was able to produce from his guitars. Also I don’t think I have ever had the pleasure of watching someone strum a guitar quiet like I saw last night. I was also struck by the amount of men professing their love for Eddie one male fan even screaming “I Fu**ing love you Eddie” nothing wrong with a little man love guys but just curious when you’re at a Red Sox game do you yell “I f**king love you Dustin”

Ive been to over 60 shows and Eddie sounded spot muthafukin on last night.

So glad I went. You guys in Providence have a really nice town. It's like a cleaner version of Bridgeport. ;) I'll be back to eat on Federal Hill real soon.

Stupid questions, but I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect for this show: who's on stage with Eddie? Is it just him with his uke or accoustic? Does it change throughout? I haven't seen a solo show previously, and with the recent album being on the uke, I'm not sure what the show is going to be like (other than awesome regardless).

    POSTER? who was the artist?

Looks like Jeff Soto. His designs are pretty recognizable.

He sang The End and in the line

"Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn’t now I’m a fool you see",..

He was teaching the backing vocals to Matt Cameron and he thought it sounded like did and he said that if it was it would be a different song. Before he even got to that though he said the name Matt Cameron and everyone started cheering. And then he said something about how Matt Cameron doesn't sleep alone tonight.

Glen played some new songs, the only song he played that wasn't new was 'Leave' from the Swell Season album.

So your the guy :o with the score updates eh? I was once a big sports fan so I get it, it was a big night for the B's and at least you stopped after saying it once or twice. Those pretentious pricks behind me never stopped  I'm so glad you posted about them, 3 guys and a girl spot on. According to my wife they eat at the restaurant she works at on a somewhat regular basis. Guess who going to have an awful meal out next time they go in to dine when my wife is working :lol: :P Fuckers. I hope the plane trip the where talking about is delayed after they board and they are forced to spend 5 hours on the tarmac with no AC in a heat wave. Oh how I wish my wife had to use the bathroom during Ed's set!

As bad as they were the show was 10,000 times better! Hoping to score a ticket to Hartford to do it again this time minus the chatter boxes.

    Glen played for 30 minutes.

As far as the show - I made a very last minute decision to go. By myself! It's the first time I've ever gone to a show solo, but the boyfriend wasn't able to come and I couldn't find anyone else last minute. Probably worked out in my favor though since I wound up with a great single 6th row RC orch seat.

Loved "Society" with Glen. Just loved it.
And I could listen to Ed do "Throw Your Arms Around Me" 10 times in a row and love it each time.

I felt there weren't as many stories last night though. I look forward to that nearly as much as the actual music.

It was great hearing Ed live again in that kind of intimate setting. I was glad that the ushers/security/whoever started walking around shining their lights on people taking photos. It's distracting in such a setting. I mean, you wouldn't go to a play or a musical and sit there taking photos. These shows should be treated with that same kind of respect. And good lord, if you still MUST take photos, turn your f-ing flash off!

The show was amazing. I had amazing seats in the front row to the left. Ed was awesome. He came over and shook my and my sisters hands. He has super soft hands btw. The only downside was the abusive bouncers who were harassing people for using their electronic devices. An announcement at the beginning of the show would have been sufficient. There was no need to pull girls out of the audience and yell at them for using their smart phones. (I was not one of them but it created a very tense and unwelcoming environment that most people do not associate with going to PJ/Ed/side project shows) There were signs everywhere outside in the lobby too but it was just needless. I'll let someone else do the play by play but that's my take. Oh yeah and the Better Man was the alternate version that was played at Bridge St.

agreed. the bouncer tried to kick me out because i was trying to take a pic or two. i had kick ass seats but right in front of security....and ed's hands were soft for sure ;)

I have a problem with law enforcement who just get their nuts off harassing people who aren't doing anything wrong. The bouncer on the left in front of me was checking his phone the whole night and really didn't give anyone any problems it was the other guys.

u must have been right next to me i was row e 109 and 111 was mrs jethrojam420

10c seats were sold out. but i do believe they were randomized. i actually got them the day before via ppacri.org my guess is the season ticket holders gave them up last minute due to game 7. good for me...third row left, but the two rows in front were empty and half full respectivly

Amazing show, amazing seats. Thank you Ed, thank you 10C :)
My only complaint is for whoever threw the Neely jersey onstage in the middle of a song. That was rude and disrespectful to Ed. I don't understand why it couldn't wait until the song was over. That was an embarassment.

Just wanted to thank Ed for an amazing show and for signing a poster for my wife Kristal and I, and our unborn baby after the show.. after waiting outside for a little while I finally got to shake the hand of the man who has inspired me since age 12 when I won a copy of Ten on cassette for $0.25 on the boardwalk in New Jersey.. 18 years later and Im still inspired and more impressed than ever.. We had great seats to the show and were blow away by the performance. Play bills were a real nice touch, great posters as well.. We were also fortunate to get a handwritten set list (thanks Jesse, im pretty sure you were the man to hook us up with that.. (another reason why the play bills were a great idea b.t.w.)) awesome performance from Glen Hansard.. I will be downloading your tunes tonight... quick question Ed, why no Lukin?? Thanks again! Good luck on the rest of the tour...

I couldn't go yesterday so my ticket went to my friend's brother. Here is his take on the evening. I think he was very happy I was unable to go
    He emailed:
Vedder was a little slow to start. He was gesturing side-stage, and
after a bit someone cloaked in white emerged with a sign, a two-by-two
grid with "BV" on top and "10" below... Boston 1, Vancouver 0, and the
place erupted! He had continued fun with the game, at one point
apologizing for the timing, saying they tried to get a big screen,
perhaps from U2; but all they could get was a little TV for him, and he
could have a smoke and drink and tell us all what he was seeing. Later,
he devoted "Rise" to the Bruins. (Unfortunately some meat-headed ushers
obsessed over cell-phone usage, which became more of a distraction than
the people trying to get game updates.)

He also reminisced about playing in NJ... with a guy Bruce... And
cracked about wearing a bullet-proof vest. Wah.

What vocal range! From forceful Pearl Jammy stuff to what reminded me
of Cat Stevens. And his picking, too! I confess, prior, I didn't
realize he was more than a vocalist. He had about a dozen instruments.
And he flips quickly from violent chords to melodic strumming.
The stage was simple: Basically him, a stool, and his guitars/ukuleles.
He played a reel tape for background wave sounds for one song; and used
some kind of playback during a chant (so that at the end, there were
about six of him harmonizing.) Other than that, it was all straight up.

You'll love it. I hope the Hartford venue is as quaint and your seats
    as good!
    Thanks again!

No, I am a guy that kept quiet the entire show besides one well-timed moment where I wanted to thank Eddie for 20 years of memories. I never pulled out my cell phone, I never left my seat, I never yelled while Ed was talking, I cherished every story he had to tell and every song he had to sing.

If I hurt someone's experience because I yelled "thank you," during a time of silence, then forgive me for infringing on your night. But Ed looking up towards my direction, and responding that he "should be thanking me (us)," was a moment I will never forget, and I would never take it back.

    Ah, Ed.
    Off He Goes...

Photography by itself isn't the problem. Incessant screens, combined with FLASH are the problem. If demands are going to be made, it should be NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY, but still, the effing SCREENS...

I waited until near the end of the sets to make a few frames with an actual camera, (this photo is at the beginning of encore break two) as opposed to blasting away the second he hit the stage with a phone. I tried to balance it out karma-wise by handing out 4 copies to my nieghbors in the first dress circle of the April 3rd 1994 Fox Theater boot. I recorded the show on Sony UX 90's off of the mighty WBCN as it happened. Those 2 tapes are among my most prized possessions, and it felt pretty good to hand them out to total strangers, on black CD's, even.

I also kept my trap shut while Ed was talking.

The whole night was great, but Betterman (!), Sometimes, You're True, EWBTCIAST, and Arc all were STUNNING.

Cant wait for Montreal. If I see YOU there, maybe I'll hook you up with a black CD.
