yesterday, about half a million of my closest friends had a bit of a party in West Hollywood. Had a great time.. rode my motorcycle in the parade next to my husband on his bike with my brother on the back of mine.

Spent most of the day running around the beer tent and hanging out with friends. But the whole day was like a family reunion...

If you haven't been to one, pride days are pretty much nothing like you see on TV. Well OK... maybe kinda like you see on TV...

Now now, you don't know ALL of those 1/2 million people!

Is your brother gay too? Or was he just there showing support? My brother was at the D.C. parade, but I don't know enough about the pride parades and all that. Like, is it just for gay people, or for people who support them as well?

Anyway, glad you had a good time and had some fun

Oh, and remind me to never piss you off in a dark ally, I think you'll beat me up!

i think toronto has one of the largest pride parades out there ... i used to go but these days - if it's nice out, it is damn near impossible to see anything without getting there early ...

I dunno... I get pretty friendly after a few beers.

He is and yes, anyone can come along. A lot of straight people come out to party and lots of people bring their kids and parents and friends. It's really just a big street party with everyone having fun. A few people dress in wild costumes, obviously, but most people just show up dressed as themselves.

Even you would be welcome and you could march with the Christian groups or go to their tent on the festival grounds or just watch the bands play while having a drink and a taco.

Or you could get a bit crazy and dance with the lesbians.

I had a wank and thought of Ed for a bit.........

Seriously. If something was going on in Hong Kong I missed it. Haven't gone out the last couple of days. HK is freakin hot and humid.

Sounds like you had more fun than me.

Have you ever been to The Carninval in Provincetown, MA? I've never been in the town itself for the whole celebration, but I have seen the "aftermath" , as in the day after when these guys are still partying like mad, long after the parade wearing the most outrageous stuff. It's pretty wild. Unfortunately it was sorely lacking in hot lesbians equally scantily clad as the dudes. Anyway, it's great to see people having a good time. Also, if P-Town is any indicaton of how gay people can run a small city more cities need to follow suit and start voting for the Rainbow Party. The place is spotless and so well-kept, small business flourish there, and everyone is super friendly including the cops :o . The place is a great time.

I've never been but I'd love to go. I was asked to go to a persona appearance at a bar there this summer but I couldn't work it into my schedule. I hear it's a great pride parade. My favorite pride is still Toronto... the whole downtown core just shuts down and everyone comes out to party. It's a really amazing atmosphere there... just everyone having a great time.

And there the lesbians are allowed to (and do) walk around naked. So... go.

No pics of the husband? Would be nice to see your other half.
Here in Ft. Worth the pride parade and picnic are a lot smaller than in West Hollywood, I'm sure.
I've attended a few with friends and back when I was doing a lot of volunteer work with the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Always lots of fun.

My straight (but uh, experimental) friend went to the festivities here...told me she made out with a hot transgender, then another woman, then got pulled onstage to help undress a dude at some post-parade party. Just your typical saturday night ;) She said it was the best time she'd had in a loooong time. Might have to check it out one of these years...
Sounds like you had fun too 8-)

Odd, i didn't hear anything about a parade in New York, Do different cities have different days?

There are two main days for the big cities which fall on or around the anniversaries of Stonewall or the death of Judy Garland.

But smaller cities have them all over the place. New York is in two weeks... same day as SF, Minneapolis, Toronto and Houston.

My college roommate goes every year to the St. Pete's celebration. She always has a great time.

Agreed. I was kinda glad to learn that it was your brother in the pic tho. My first thought was Damn, even gay couples start to look alike after they've been married a long time.

That's what I like about this forum.... Even though both of you guys (seemingly) couldn't be more different politically, ya can't help but like each other, and both of you make the forum a lot more fun! Other forums, too much hate between those with big differences.

I'm on a Springsteen board, and the political side is downright nasty. Insults, constantly calling each other out in thread titles, etc... Here, everyone I think is pretty well liked.
