  • I live in Bloomington. Driving around campus today and watched several groups of young people with the fliers with her photo/info punching them on every post they could find. Broke my heart.

I'm an IU alumnus. She was last seen near 11th and College? I lived a couple blocks from there my junior year.
  • I drove by there tonight at almost 6pm. There were news trucks and tons of people on the sidewalk and into the street. The scene looked as if some famous person was on the red carpet - so many people. It didn't hit me til I arrived home who they were all there for...and why.

Thanks for the support. You hear about so many terrible occurrences from the news and elsewhere, but it really is scary when it's someone you know of. And someone so young and close to your age. Just found out about another way to spread the news- I'm not on Twitter, but if you are you can use the hashtag #FindLauren. There's also a page called @NewsOnLaurenS.

INDIANAPOLIS - The disappearance of an IU student has similarities to several other college students that have gone missing in the area in the past decade or so.

Hopefully this girl is found safe but it seems like this has been happening way too much over the past decade at midwestern colleges specifically in Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Indiana. When I saw this story today the first thing I thought of was Brian Shaffer, the second thing was that there is definitely a serial killer(s) in the midwest targeting college kids.

  • I assisted with the search this evening with another PJ member. In our 7 block area we found 4 items and reported them all but doubt it was useful. The police had many tips and they were following up on each one so their parking lot was like a revolving door of police cars checking in after each run. The parents spoke to us prior to the beginning of the evening search and I could feel my broken heart crying for them. It's such a helpless feeling.

As an aside - I've lived here for 20 years and it never crossed my mind to dispose of, or lose, articles of my clothing on the streets. In a college town I guess the chances of losing clothing on the street is greater ? ... It's amazing the number of articles of clothing, bottles/cans, and trash on the ground in our city that I have apparently been blind to over the years.
