actually no. which is sad. I have seen the chillis with and without john frusciante and I just think he is such an integral part of the band it will never be the same. John Klinghoffer might be a good replacement but Im not excited about that. Im motre excited by the albums JF is allegedly working on as a solo project....

I hope it's better than SA - not that it's all bad, but I really only like about half of the tracks on it

Saw them tour Californication w/ the Foo, and they looked like amateurs playing after the Foo Fighters.

I think the last interesting thing they did was One Hot Minute which I understand, most people didn't like. The Chili's themselves pretend that album doesn't even exist which I find curious/disappointing.
At this point I think they are under the impression that their music is way more relevant & cutting edge than it really is.

But of course, that's just my humble opinion, everyone's entitled to theirs.

(PS, just heard now through this thread that Frusciante's gone again.....too bad, great talent playing with Flea)

Frusciante was awesome on Stadium Arcadium!

He was so awesome that he covered up the fact that Kiedis' lyric were complete jibberish that consisted of a lot of rhyming with state names.

Frusciante was my favorite member of the group (by far) but I am happy they are at least releasing something without him. I won't see them live again, but I will get the album.

I really enjoyed Stadium Arcadium, but like you I only care for about half the tracks. But it's a double album, and half the tracks equals an album worth of material I liked, so I still listen to it a lot.

Oh I agree - there is probably close to an album of songs that I really enjoyed, but the other half kind of ruined it for me.

Hahaha that is funny. I saw that tour. Muse opened first and made both bands look like bad cover bands. In fact, the Foos were actually AWFUL. No lie, thought they sucked. Never saw them live before or after that, so I hope it was just an off night.

I agree. I am still looking forward to hearing how they sound without John, but his solo albums have really overshadowed the last few RHCP releases.

I absolutely love Stadium Arcadium. Saw the Peppers live in 06 and Frusciante was a beast. Just an unbelievable showman and guitarist. Sad to see him go but still have optimism that they will put out a quality album. Still for me, Californication is my favorite Chili Peppers album, followed closely by BSSM and Stadium Arcadium a close third.

BSSM is a magnificent beast of a record. RHCP on tour at that time compared to now is a terrific fall from grace. saw them a few times over the year and the standard has declined every time to the current performance which is pretty U2esque - predictable, boring and run of the mill

its a shame to me because back around one hot minute they were immense.

I saw them @ UMASS Amherst maybe early April of 2000, if Muse was there I missed them. At least for my show, the Foo were pretty dead on, high high energy, Taylor Hawkins was so sick & it was obvious Dave Grohl loves playing with him.

The Chili's were just very low energy and acted like they were doing us a favor by being there. Maybe I saw them on an off night, but it was the first & only time I'll see the Chilis live.

Their newer stuff just doesn't interest me (again, just my humble opinion)

Exact same thing here. I saw them in Dayton Ohio that same year. I don't remember Muse being there either, but after doing some Google'ing it sure does sound like they were. I guess I'll add them to the list of bands I've seen now.

I agree about RHCP. They just didn't seem to want to be there at all. Californication was their last album that I really really liked, but I just didn't enjoy the songs live. I wish I could have seen them in the early to mid 90's.

I saw them in 06 too, and they were great. They didnt play with the energy I expected from them, but I thought they sounded great. Its always a pleasure to see Flea and Chad smith tear up the rhythm, and Fruciante was on fire when I saw them.

Muse was in Dayton, that's the show I was at.

I saw the Chili's later...maybe March 2007? IN Iowa, and that show was great compared to the Dayton show for them.

Good news! I love the RHCP, i really like their last 3 albums, I've seem them a couple times live and the band sounds great except Antony who seems like he doesn't have the same voice as in the record, close but nog enough.

    I totally agree.

I saw them with the Foos and QOTSA at a festival thing in Glasgow and both of them blew the Chilis away with their performance. in fact even electric 6 were better than them.

One Hot Minute is my favourite album of theirs.
