To be fair, Ed and PJ have milked their side projects a bit recently and could be seen to be losing a bit of artisitic integrity - it is about time they got back to being Pearl Jam.
However, I agree with some comments that Billy Corgan is in a glass house here if he is alluding Ed selling out a bit. After all, you wouldn't call it Pearl Jam with just Ed and Matt, would you?
Whoever said it wasn't wrong when Eddie talks shit about other bands?
Corgan's comments were really lame...I don't understand why he felt the need to diss Eddie for writing a song for the Cubs...and his reasoning was just plain retarded.
If Corgan feels he can write a better song...
WELL THEN WRITE A BETTER FUCKING SONG BALDY AND SHUT UP!!!
Most of the users here will agree with anything and everything Pearl Jam and Eddie has to say, even if it is negative or dissing another band.. remember MSG 03 and his comment about Good Charlotte? Everyone was on the band wagon. Well that's not fair, at least 95 percent were on the band wagon and had their own negative words about that band
I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.
I find it very funny that, if someone makes fun of Eddie Vedder or Pearl Jam you all have a hissy fit and jump all over the person for saying shit about him or the band.
. . . yet if Pearl Jam or more specifically Eddie talks shit about someone (which he has) you're all like "Yeah right on!! you tell em' Ed!"
nothing but fucking drones
in all fairness.. it is a pearl jam fan board ;p So its bound to happen.. im sure whatever very few people they have on the "pumpkins" forum, will do the same thing...

I don't know...I think you're making a bit of a generalization.
Although I disagree with Eddies comments about Good Charlotte...I still thought it was a bit childish of him to do so.
Here he's in the middle of a Sold out Show at MSG...The band is Rocking...and he wastes time talking about how Bad Good Charlotte is...
Now
I know I spend alot of time dissing bands myself...but there's a difference between discussing and writing about how shite you think a band is on a message board and doing it from a stage, with a microphone in front of thousands of people.
I don't know...I think you're making a bit of a generalization.
Although I can't say that Eddie didn't make a valid point about Good Charlotte...I still thought it was a bit childish of him to do so.

Well if the shoe fits. I'm not saying EVERYONE agrees with Pearl Jam or Eddie but good portion here will agree with any statement spewed out of the Pearl Jam camp

hey pal
I happen to agree with the "kid" here - people do think Ed is God like.
I personally CAN'T STAND IT when he starts talking about other bands or other people in general and just dissing them because he thinks it funny
Don't "Exhibit A" me pal, I don't feel obliged to agree with everything Ed says. Assume he was never friends with Chris Cornell and all of a sudden he bashed Soundgarden, it would be a different story. But Good Charlotte? Who gives a fuck about them?
The one comment that Eddie made that kind of made me think he was a bit of a tool...was the one from a few years back where he dissed that band (Matchbox 20? 3 Eye Blind??) for covering "Baba O'Riley".
I thought that was kind of a stupid ass thing to do; considering he didn't even write the fucking song.
Now if they were out there doing a shitty version of "Black" I could see his point... But who the fuck is Eddie Vedder to tell some band not to cover The Who??
It didn't make any sense and made him look like a bit of a jackass.
Kurt Cobain was hailed by millions and he bashed Pearl Jam every chance he had. That didn't change the way we felt about Pearl Jam or even Kurt. Hell if he was still around today he would probably eat his words because he had enough respect for Eddie.
I was at the Smashing Pumpkins show tonight in Chicago, and Billy joked about how he should write his own Cubs song. He pointed out that, aside from his arrogance, you'd have to admit that he could write a better one than Steve Goodman. Then he stated something along the lines of, "...and last I checked Eddie Vedder doesn't live in Chicago". I have to admit, I think Eddie got served.

Kurt was an idiot for doing that. He was one of the worst ever for dissing other bands.
His dissing of Pearl Jam held no water because how could you call someone a sellout...if you yourself are on a major label, selling millions of records, doing video's, and playing the game.
Everyone saw through Kurt's Pearl Jam grudge as nothing more than jealousy.
I don't think he was jealous of the music Pearl Jam was making but more so the threat that Nirvana fans were also becoming Pearl Jam fans.

It was 3rd Eye Blind and it was MSG 98 9/11/98 i think.
I did see the video too and you're right.
I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.
I totally see why he'd get mad....
In the very same way that I get mad when I see a crappy ass band trying to cover a precious Pearl Jam song and fuck it up.
Did you see Rock Honors last July? Every single one of those bands, except for Tenacious D, it hurts me to say this but including The Foos, fucked up their particular Who covers whereas Pearl Jam gave the performance of a lifetime as far as covering Who goes. So, yeah, Vedder has EVERY FUCKING RIGHT to trash talk that asswipe of a band called Three Eye Blind.
The day they do a job as kick ass as Pearl Jam does with a Who cover, is the day they will get respect covering Who....
But he didn't write the song. It's not a Pearl Jam song, no matter how many times they cover it. I suppose he's got the right to bash it, everybody does, but it seems very self-rigteous of Vedder to do it.
And you do realise that there'll be an Incubus message board who'll be saying that Incubus were the best band and Pearl Jam were absoutely awful on that VH1 night, right?
Maybe Daltrey and Townsend absoutely loathe Pearl Jam's versions of their songs. I know that's very unlikely but it would be pretty funny
The thing to know about Billy Corgan is that he is a silly ninny.
He fired a former Pumpkins' manager, only to have that manager's replacement quit shortly thereafter (her quoted reason was because Billy Corgan made her sick).
He broke up the Pumpkins, saying that he had taken pop music as far as he possibly could, and that the Pumpkins were no longer interesting to him. At one point he insulted James Iha, and called bassist D'arcy a "mean-spirited drug addict." A few years later, he paid for a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times, pleading for his band back (Iha and D'arcy have flatly refused to come back and work with him again).
Aside from an uninteresting solo album, Billy also formed the band Zwan in his Pumpkins off time. After Zwan broke up, he went out of his way to insult his former Zwan bandmates, calling them "filthy", "opportunistic", "selfish" and "posers".
Billy also spent some of his humbling Pumpkins off-time appearing at professional wrestling matches. His appearances had little to do with music. In this clip, Billy can be seen hitting someone with a guitar, and gesturing to the crowd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7T93Gu1Leg
It appears that Billy Corgan is still up to his old tricks, still being silly, insecure and bitter. No matter who he is attempting to throw stones at this week, Billy is still living in a house that is glass from top to bottom.
I find it very funny that, if someone makes fun of Eddie Vedder or Pearl Jam you all have a hissy fit and jump all over the person for saying shit about him or the band.

I wonder if the shoe was on the other foot and Townshend slandered Pearl Jam or someone bigger than PJ slandered them how that would turn out
We'll never know i suppose

There were probably 6 people at that show!
