    I'm at the chemo place "as we speak."

    they say the blood is no big deal as long as it's not, say, a "shot glass" full :shock: . yeah, that would be a bit worrisome :lol: .

    there's light at the end of the tunnel....today is treatment #8 out of 12. I got a new nurse today who, somehow, jabbed my chemo port with no pain. That's a first. I'm more than ready to be done with this shit...last night, we went out to dinner and my fried shrimp (a total favorite of mine) tasted like crap. So did my broccoli. Codie assured me they both actually tasted very good. Oh well, at least the Sam Adams Alpine Spring tasted pretty good :thumbup: :mrgreen:

    one thing that came up today is that my red blood cell count is going down with every treatment. I may get done with treatment before I bottom out....or I may need a blood transfusion. I'm obviously hoping for the former. With my luck, I'd get Hep C or something from the transfusion :roll:

    Glad to hear you're feeling a little better (although that probably doesn't last once you get the chemo). I've been wondering how you were doing but I was away from a computer the last couple of days.

    I guess it's a good thing that spitting blood is "no big deal." :wtf:

    But the very best news is the light at the end of the tunnel! Hang in there, dude, soon food will taste good again! :mrgreen:

    I can see a big Pizza Pie right around the corner.

    I'll take one of those Sam Adams too. We enjoyed a nice DogFishHead Chickory Stout the other night.

    Summer will bring more beer and BBQ, so bring your ass up and I will share! C'mon sunshine! I am DONE with this winter thing again!!!

    and not to go all moving train on you....but thanks to my UNION, my employer accepted full responsibility for my illness and is paying ALL my bills :mrgreen: . without my union, I'd probably be contacting one of those sleazy, TV advertising, personal injury lawyers. :x

    Couldn't tell you what any treatment costs over here, we never get told, almost everything is free at the point of access (prescriptions from your GP cost £7.89 and a dental check up is £18).
    A guy I know has been diagnosed with a tumour, emergency transport from the GP to the acute hospital, 48 hours later he was in surgery for 9 hours, now he's on chemo and radiotherapy - he'll never know the cost.
    In a way I think it's good we don't see it, though when people moan about having to wait a few weeks or that they pay too much national insurance, I kinda wish they did see how much it cost!

    Leanne, there was a costing exercise at work a few years ago for a simple Podiatry treatment and it came in at about £25, it's prob around £40 now with costs going up. For the NHS to transport a patient from home to clinic and back it's around £50. We are so lucky over here.

    So pleased you don't have to pay Rob. Unions are a great thing - I have 2 :)

    wow...this weekend sucked :x

    came home from chemo at about 3:00 friday afternoon.....went to bed until sunday morning :shock: ....yesterday, I was STILL in bed...but managed to be on TOP of the covers :lol:

    I'm not looking forward to these last three treatments. I'm still woozy today but we got snow....so gracie HAD to go to the park :mrgreen:

    Hang in there Rob! You're damn near finished with the chemo and Spring is around the corner. Plus, pitchers and catchers in how many days? And spending the weekend in bed can't be all bad, can it?

    Positive Chi your way and just think, before you know it, you'll be done with the chemo and summer will be here. Brews and brats on the grill?

    You are so close to the end. Right now I am sure all the toxins have built up so much and that is why this is such a herd time right now. Hang in there...it is nearly over. Thinking of you and sending masses of well wishes :D

    I go in today for treatment #10 of 12. my last treatment will be one month from today. so, I should feel good but, really, I am very apprehensive about this last month. I pretty much feel crappy most of the time and absolutely nothing tastes good to me. I may ask my doc if he can prescribe some sort of sleep aid today so I can sleep for a month . I'd love to wake up 5 weeks from now and have all this chemo behind me. :think:
