I think this decision is wrong. We have very strong Muslim community in Roxburgh Park and we would like to have some of our customs and laws to influence our lives. You say Australia is free country, well this is not allowing us to express our freedom. Sorry, you are wrong Julia.

Sharia law will be The Law, like most of my Islamic brothers and sisters we will tow the line for now but as our roots are sown here so our numbers grow rapidly and no law in this country will hold the one true law granted by Allah. This land is is ripe for a change, the end of pornography, alcohol and wickedness comitted against women and children will stop when we become an Islamic nation, it is our continuing fight for this land and it's hearts and mindset, you can't and you won't stop it.

A Muslim from Perth: Dear fellow Aussies. I am a Muslim and I strongly believe that whoever comes to Australia, should live by Austrlian law. It's that simple. And yeah "Ahmad", no one stops you from practicing your religion. Religion is a personal thing, it's the way of life. I practice Islam but I respect the existence of other religions. Isn't this what Islam tells us? Can we please live in harmony with other religions and races. And respect each other. Australian society is a peaceful and multicultural one. Please don't mess it up. Please live outside the well and stop criticizing the society and people of Australia and ask yourself what you have done to improve this society. You can't impose your laws on others. Please don't mess it up for good and broad minded muslims. I am proud to be an Australian and a Muslim. But I don't look down on my fellows of other religions. We all humans are equal, it's just the way of life we have chosen to follow. Please please stop your backward thoughts and think outside your shells. Khan from Perth.

It is scary to think that such a large Islamic federation wants Sharia Law, usually it would be some minority radical group, not a large federation.
If Sharia Law is ever introduced to Australia I will be moving.

the justice system must be equal to ALL. there is no place for religion in the states laws. ANY religion.

NONE of them have a place in our society.
Ridiculous.
They've asked for it for their own community, not for the whole world. Why don't you pay attention to what they are actually saying before getting all giddy and hysterical?
Not that any Western country will even grant it to them on a local level, making the issue even more irrelevant.
"thou shalt not kill" is broken all the time, and the penalties are not uniform. a soldier kills someone in combat and it is heroic. yet if someone murders someone in cold blood they go to jail. these laws are circumstansial.
as is "thou shalt not steal", "thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor", and "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods or wife"... etc...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Oh I don't know. Maybe you wanting to inject your religion into laws.......
In suburbs with high muslim population pork products are banned.
My friend lives in one of these areas and one night we went to the KFC, I asked for a bbq chicken bacon burger. The dude taking my order says to me that we don't sell that here.
I ask why.
Then he gives me this bullshit how because it is a muslim area they cannot sell it.
I told him this is Australia why do I now have to drive km's to the next area to get what I want.
Fuck off back to your own country if you don't like how we live.

News in todays paper....
Almost everything we buy in our supermarkets is Halal.
Why the fuck should I have to eat Halal, I want non-Halal options.
Eating Halal is against my Catholic faith.
Go for it.....
I wonder if Jesus would be as upset about not getting a BBQ Bacon Burger as you are...
yep no shrimp on the barbie for him either.

Migrants should respect the laws and ways of life of the country they choose to live in.
My parents came to Australia 40 years ago along with many others from Europe, they did not complain and make the government change things for them. Why can't these people do the same. It makes me upset :x
people really need to chill out. if you go to a 7-11 and the slurpee machine is out of order, are you gonna complain about it or if you really want a slurpee go 3 miles down the road to the next 7-11 and get a slurpee...jeez... god forbid we never ever get inconvenienced or anything...
thoughts_arrive, why not move to an area where bacon is sold? they have just as much right to not sell pork products as you do to shop somewhere else...you are a consumer. you vote with your money.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
My friend lives in that area not me, re-read my post
My area if fine, we have a lot of Vietnamese here, no chance of Halal and no pork being enforced in my area thank heavens.
They have rights to not sell pork? What country do they live in?
They migrated here so they should accept our way of life, how do you think the people that have been living in these areas for longer than these migrants feel? They were born here and now all of a sudden because some group complains it fucks things up for them. Imagine that, oh I want to host a BBQ, let me go to the butcher around the corner from my home for some pork cutlets, oh no they cannot sell it, shit that means I have to drive a bit to the next area which is about 3 suburbs away.
i can tell you i get mightily pissed off if the squishee machine isnt working. its the only reason i go to 7-11. is it too much to ask they keep their machines in tip top working order just in case i rock up wanting one?

suck it up princess. so what you have to drive a few kilometres to get what you want. i sometimes have to do that via public transport cause my local supermarket doesnt stock what i want for dinner. its a minor inconvenience and i dont chuck a tanty because of it. i just get on with it cause you know what??? there are worse things in the world.

i am glad i live in an area of multiculturalism. i feel that i am much more well rounded of a person having interacted with people here from other countries that have customs different from my own. i have a family that moved here from mexico 4 years ago and they still observe customs native to their homeland. it doesn't bother me to sit in my back yard and hear their mexican music when they have parties. i find it rather interesting. in my opinion to each their own. the world is a big place and there is room for all cultures.

just think how the aborigines feel.
didnt we get rid of all them?
