I'm going to this, and have been a HUGE fan since 1991....but this is NOT the venue for this. Nothing anybody can do about it now, but this venue flippin' sucks!! Middle of nowhere...hotels / motels at a minimum are like 12 miles away (and that's if you want to drop serious coin to stay there)...GA lawn seats have you standing at an angle which is f-ing uncomfortable....and traffic to get out of there is a monster biyaatch!
Another question...can we tail-gate in the parking lot? I'd like to get a few "free" beers in before dropping $8 for a beer, which if I remember from past experience, Alpine has some of the priciest concessions around.
I wasn't on the lawn at AV last time, but the rain made it an epic event. I wouldn't be bummed if I were you, just go and have a great time.Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.0 -

I make freaking AWESOME brownies...from scratch. With or without 'extra love'...believe me, I'll find a way to bring them in.
Hahaha!
hmmm...I better make a few batches then...The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I'd think it would hold a few thousand people, right? So during the other 8 hours or so that PJ is not playing...will this just be an open area that nobody can walk through and have to stand to the side of and / or look around? And does anybody have an opinion of where the other 2 stages are going to be? And how tall is the fence that they say they'll take down before PJ starts?

So, I take it you've never been there before?0 -
As per the response I received from the 10 Club : members attempting to get tickets to multiple Canadian tour shows will have to purchase each set of tickets separately. Good luck everybody.0

I've seen shows at Alpine since 1988 and have to say it is consistently one of the best sounding open air venues I have ever been to. Plus its set in a gorgeous locale. Yes it is in the middle of nowhere and it is a major pita to get out of but drink a few beers, saddle up to a large midwestern girl, relax to the jam and know you and 46,999 other people are having a better time than anyone else on the fucking planet.
One thing to keep in mind; folks who live outside the venue will often offer up their lawns for parking. Its a bit of a hike to get tot he venue...maybe a mile or so, but it will save you that hour you'll be stuck in a line to get out of the Alpine parking lot1995 Milwaukee

Does anyone think PJ will perform an acoustic set early in the day to garner more interest in the early performers? Eddie would always come out and play a couple songs before bands like Sonic Youth or Sleater-Kinney came on, why wouldn't they play an hour stripped down set either Sat/Sun?0

This is a view from the expo center and the middle grass area where nobody is sitting will probably be the 10c lawn section.

What is the real liklihood of getting a decent seat to either Toronto show when I just joined 10C last year? Am I better off just going to the Ticketmaster Route?0
-
i apologize if this has been asked and answered a jillion times. any idea how much toronto tickets will be for the pair via the tenclub?I miss you hippiemom.0
-
I have a brother in law who works for an airline, so i could fly anywhere for like 450. So, which show would be most likely to not have too many 10 Clubbers, if any? Where would 206xxx get me very good seats, if anywhere?0
-
no, no one really "sits" in their assigned seat.
just trying to clarify that GA is standing room only, from a few pages ago, wherever you want to stand, dance, or laydown.
reserved seating is an actual section, row and seat number.
the soundgarden show coming up had the entire main floor as GA and you got to choose if you wanted "reserved seating" or GA (chance to be on the mainfloor).
I think they will have fold out chairs in rows, wire-tied together on the mainfloor. their very early shows were all GA, vote for change, new orleans, soldier field, now they have sections, rows and assigned seats. which really are assigned "dance/jam" space.
anyone concur?

Drowned Out wrote:I think it would be great if the fundraising done on this Canadian tour did something to help the people of Slave Lake, Alberta.....Word is 7000 people were forced from their homes due to fire, 40% of the town burned to the ground :( A close friend lost absolutely everything. Another board member, Cree Nations, has a lot of friends and family in the area too....So sad.
Hopefully by September they will have some insurance/government assistance rolling in...but it's something to keep in mind....and if any of you want to help, contact the Alberta Red Cross ( http://www.redcross.ca )0 -
There are now "buy tickets" links on the pj20.com website itself, although they are not active links for now. I wonder if this is now the way to get them rather than in the goods section on pearljam.com.
As a member in the 400xxx range I can't express how stressed I am that I won't get tickets!!!!!!!!My whole life... like a picture on a sunny day...

not sure when your last Alpine show was, but I haven't seen lawns offered up for parking since 1998.0 -

Maybe, I'm naive - but what does member number have to do with GETTING tickets? Now, once they go to allocate them as to where your seats are, I think the seniority thing will kick in. But, how will they know your computer is using someone with a higher member number than someone else? They can barely keep the servers up during these things. And now they are going to have an algorithm that blocks out computer requests from members logged in with higher numbers than someone else?
Be worried about getting tickets, but not b/c you have a high member number. If you want to worry where you'll be sitting once you get them, ok. But, I'm pretty sure you just want to be "in the building." (Plus if you're just going for lawn seats, I think you'll be fine).Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

I am new to the 10C, and I thought I read on these posts that whether you get tickets or not could also be based on seniority. I hope that I am wrong about that and I definitely understand your point. Like most people, I am hoping for one night Reserved - but of course as you say I just want to be there. Thanks for the calming advice!!My whole life... like a picture on a sunny day...

Its just the seats thats seniority based, lower number - closer to stage, to score a ticket, that is the same problem for all of us!-95, Stockholm (MirrorBall Tour)
