i'm slowly losing interest in jack.

i love the stripes and raconteurs but hate, hate hate the dead weather.
sea of cowards is just unlistenable. if anyone is overrated, it is alison mosshart.

I love Horehound, but i agree with you about Sea of Cowards. Not a very good album.

...oh and back to the purpose of the thread, I think Jack White is incredible.

Great song writer, great guitar player, great live

I'm sorry, I couldn't disagree with you more. LOVE The Dead Weather, love their heavy sound, and Alison rocks in TDW and The Kills.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

I think he's very talented and is a great contribution to modern music. I personally don't rank him amongst one of my personal favorites, but I do own a good bit of the music he's been involved with and it is pleasant to listen to.

I respect and appreciate him as the artist and creative person that he is.

  • Love White Stripes, love Raconteurs. Dead Weather is just so-so, although I have to say surprised to hear people say Sea of Cowards is unlistenable or a poor album. Hustle and Cuss is a GREAT track as is I Can't Hear You. I love the guitar in that one.

That being said, I wish Jack would focus more on Raconteurs than Dead Weather for the time being but White Stripes getting back together would be ideal.

Anyone see Jack on The Colbert Report?

I saw the first and third part of the interview.

  • I caught a little bit of it. Didn't know he'd be on. He seemed a little nervous.

If you start to type anything unflattering about Jack *without* having seen him live, just stop yourself from doing that. It'll save you some face if you ever do see him live.

Pearl Jam fans are lovers of great live music, and watching Jack play guitar is like watching a man wrestle a snake... he seems to be both a little insane and in pain while he wrenches amazing noises out of whatever he's playing. He's a master showman and loves being unpredictable.

Obviously he drums for most of TDW, and that lowers his overall impact considerably. I personally think he should've just continued The White Stripes with Alison Moshart replacing Meg... since she has the charisma and moxie he loves, and she could learn to play most of the rudimentary drum parts without too much trouble.
Is it too much to ask for a full-blown Temple of the Dog set? Probably.
