Can I help or donate even if I dont want or need anything in return?...If so, pm me your paypal addy and I will send along a little something to kick it off or add to it or whatever...:-)

Thanks Scott, This idea is in its infancy. I dont want it to be a one and done type deal. So we are still looking into who, and how to help the best way this community can. I know where just a web site where we meet and talk and Give each other PJ stuff. But I would like it to turn into a little more. I dont want to take over the forums or the world (just picture a world ran by us 10 clubbers  ) I have a few ideas and a few candidates in mind but if any one knows any one who lost their job or worse. Let me know. We will see what we can do. Some one said most people are to proud to ask for help. Thats what has to stop. We have to ask so we can help make each other stronger :D

Sounds good...Well, when you do get it figured out and see how you want it to work, PLEASE just let me know and I will help when and how I can...I would offer to help you organize or do research and what not, but I have enough on my own plate right now to commit any time even though I would like too...Consider me a silent investor!!

Ok I have been getting a lot of responses of people helping.Thank You for those. I guess no one needs help

Here is what I think we need to get started.

    1. Ideas on who and when we should give.
    2. Volunteers to pick up certain items Like gift cards,or what ever else might come up. I guess we can call you guys "Runners" :D
    3. Treasurer. I do not want to do it just because it was my idea of bringing this together and it may be a conflict of interest. ( I hope you guys understand what im trying to say here)
    4. More ideas :D

I thought of one idea that might help generate some income for this 10 club challenge. (We are going to have to have capital to start helping.)

So heres the idea.Take the other thread I started of A+ Buyers and sellers list and people who are on there can give like a voluntary monthly fee of between $1 and $5 dollars. If you want to give more its up to you. If you want to give at all its up to you also. But Im just thinking its a start. If every one on their gave $2 dollars that would be over $200. That can help a charity and or a 10 clubber in need. Just think there is power in numbers. instead of one person giving $25 once Im sure we can get 20 people to give $5 a lot more often

This is going to take time and a lot of hard work. I tell my kids the more you put into the task at hand the more you get out of it. So please Help me try to help others or charities more than just once a year :D

A name was tossed out there for our 10 Club Challenge and it was "Bugs Amongst The Waves" I think the person who suggested it can describe why he suggested it best himself. Heres what he wrote

We could call the group something like "Bugs amongst the waves" obviously pj songs, but there are so many of us bugs out there in the world, and the ups and downs of life are the waves, we're just trying to help eachother survive through it

What do you guys think?........I like it :D

Great ideas so far-- I have another.

    - In addition to the idea of asking for small donations, how about a "garage sale"? People can put up items they are willing to sell with the proceeds going to fund this cause. I bet a lot of us have stuff we dont NEED and wouldnt miss...and would be more than happy to sell them off for a great cause like helping a fellow 10clubber.

-We should definitely set up a new, seperate paypal account for this...maybe set up a "FundMe" page like the one that was used for the sick kitty. I would be up for attempting Treasurer duty, but I also understand that I haven't been a regular around here so I don't want that rub anyone the wrong way (Hi, I'm Kelly, BTW :) ). Treasurer duty should also (in my opinion) be termed, because it might turn out to be a big job and could get overwhelming. I am proposing we change treasurers on a somewhat regular basis (every 6 months? after every 2 times we send something out?) This helps with checks and balances too maybe.

-The runner idea is a good one. If we do gift cards for groceries or gas or something like that, we will probably want to do research to find out what stores/stations are in the receiver's hometown so that we can be sure to send them something they can actually easily use. Just something to maybe keep in mind?

-And yes, we most definitely need a STICKY on this bad boy :)

OK- just a few thoughts from me.... :D

  • Just another idea, what if we set up a go fund me page to raise money for a PJ charity in honor of PJ20? I think that could also be an option if we don't have people asking for help or maybe even in addition to these ideas that have been discussed...I'm in for anything on this. I would be interested in being a runner and treasurer (I think the idea of this position rotating is great) I'm a little newer to posting lately like Kelly (Hi I'm Dave nice to meet you  ) I'm still thinking up more ideas. Bugs Amongst the Waves sounds like a kick ass name to me 8-)

This is an exciting idea and I would like to be a part of it. I may not have much money to help out, but I will contribute what I can. I would be interested in finding out what a runner would do; I could probably do this. Treasurer, probably not so much--I'm not that great with my own bank account, nor with technological issues. But I would like to be a part of it, no matter how small. And I love 'Bugs Amongst the Waves'!!
  • Hey guys, here's another 10c member in need of help. A bump would even help out too if you can't donate...

Totally heart this thread!!! Count me in- I like the termed treasurer job idea as it is something I could help with, but can't take it on right now. Also, dig on the garage sale idea or a way to to get "items" into the hands of those who need them (aka: I have a couch I have to get rid of...promise nothing creepy has occurred on it ;) oh you need one...let me send you some pics, see if you like and find a way to get it to you....) :D
got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...

When I brought up the garage sale, I meant it as if we had an online "garage sale" for stuff (like posters, cds, vinyl...and i guess "other stuff" could work too) but that sellers who put up an item for sale this purpose would be in charge of shipping to the buyer of thier particular item.

I was thinking it could go something like this:
1- We post a list of items for sale. ONE list-not a thread with a bunch of people adding what they have to sell--we could make one list, with the item name, the sellers name, and the cost.
2- Potential buyer can contact seller with interest.
3- The payment could come straight to the Bugs Amoungst group (or whatever we end up calling it) via paypal.
4- Bugs Treasurer could then notify the seller that the payment was recieved and its all good for them to ship it out (again, in my opinion---the seller should pay for the shipping but can include the requirement that the buyer pay them direct for shipping)
5- Bugs Treasurer would also update the main list with SOLD next to the item

This is just what I was thinking could work out easiest. If you have something to donate of substance (like a couch) it might be difficult to find someone in your area who is on this board and who is also in need of the same item. Selling it and donating the $$ to the cause might be less of a headache.

    Again, my opinions.
    :D

Now the Bugs get crawling  (Ball Rolling) I love the Garage sale thing. I will PM you with trying to work that idea. I will also Talk about the treasure job to those of you who has offered you services. And YESI love the rotating the position every 3 months rather than 6. The same 3,4 people can rotate. That is a great idea. Also I thought about the Regional part of runners in the fact that not every one has the same grocery/gas stores in the country.

So I will PM all those who have contacted me.We will get this thing crawling and lets help make a difference in this world :D

OK one step is getting people to volunteer to be on some sort of Board of Bugs(directors) Im thinking like 5 people to decide key things like who to help, what charities to help. I dont think I should be the one deciding that stuff alone. But Im sure decisions would have to be made and an odd number of people would make it so there is no ties :D I dont care if there is 5,7,9 people on it. So if this is some thing you can give time to send me a PM and put Bugs Board in the message.

Maybe we could get advertising on next years Ten club shirt

    Ok heres some BUMP news.

We are trying to get a SAFE account to collect donations from Members,Stores and sales. We have to make sure our foundation is strong, so as we build, every thing dont come crumbling down. :D

We have a Treasurer that is working on the financial set up. As soon that is fixed we will be asking for your donations. :D I also need people to PM me about joining the Board. I want 7 or 9 people. I have 4 or 5 locked up so if you want to be in with us. All you have to do is PM me and Tell me why you want to help out and what you are willing to do and what your not willing to do, :D

I also need more Runners. This Job is more of a we call you and ask if you can pick up or drop off some thing. We could use lots of these runners. Its a big country. Big world too. So dont be afraid to join us if your in Canada or Spain, Oh where is that crazy kid from, you know the one with the flag, cant spell and always bitch en not u. Oh yeah Greece  Hes on board.

Please just keep bumping until we get figured out. Thanks Guys/Gals :D
