I've watched the reboot seasons 1-5 over the past few weeks. I'm starting 6 tonight

I LOVE it. not sure why i waited this long to watch it. I've only seen one season with Matt Smith as the Doctor as much as i really liked David Tennet Matt seems to be doing a great job.

I'm a big fan of this Amy Pond companion. The whole red head thing .... i'll just stop

He should be the next Doctor, i could almost forgive Matt Smith for leaving if it happened.

I saw that. I really liked Matt as the doctor and will miss him in the role. I still haven't had a chance to catch up on the last half of season 7, but hope to get to it soon.

I think he would be great, but he may be too "big" now that he's getting movie roles. Although I suppose he could do it short term. :)

Sadly True, maybe when he gets old and Who's been off the air for a while.

yay, fellow Doctor Who fans are on here!!

I got into the show last year, started watching on netflix and quickly became obsessed. Tennant is still my favorite doctor but damn if Smith didn't win me over as well. his leaving is actually giving me a serious case of the bummers...
I would be overjoyed if they went with the next doctor being non-white, either black or middle eastern perhaps. Even though I am a feminist I have to disagree with a lot of fans saying it's time that they have a female doctor...that just doesn't seem right to me.

What did everyone think about the season 7 finale? honestly I'm still processing what the hell happened, I honestly did not see that coming...

I think it would be cool if they went with another race or a female or a female of another race as long as whoever they pick can capture the spirit of the role. Although i do kind of agree about my preference the doctor stays male. It think the actress would just have to blow them way for them to run with it.

I'm on episode 10 of season 6 and for some reason i'm really not digging season six that much. The writing seems the weakest since season 1 (my least fav) Perhaps its just me. This river song storyline... hmm just not a fan.

I'll get back to you on my thoughts about the last episode of season 7 in a week or so when i get there :D

I hate to say it, but I kind of agree with you that season 6 tends to drag a bit, especially after an awesome (IMO) first two episodes. Although I have a myriad of nitpicky issues with the direction the show has gone since Steven Moffat took over as head writer but I won't get into that right now. looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Doctor Who is awesome! I'm curious to see who Moffat gets to replace Matt Smith when he leaves. It's like I JUST got used to him after he replaced Tennant and now I've got to go through it again. :fp:

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and admit i have no issue with the Doctor remaining a white man. There have been a plethora of strong female characters in the show (reboot era, I've only just started watching the classic eps) and a couple non-white characters. Mickey and Martha both went on to kick major ass with unit as we see in Tennant's final episode. I'm not British, I know nothing about British culture, but isn't it possible that the issue of race and gender just isn't a big deal? At this point I'd almost feel disappointed if they cast a lady-doctor or a non-white doctor just because people are claiming 'it's time'. The show hasn't shown any racist or misogynistic tendencies since the reboot, so what exactly have they got to answer for? Why would having a white dude in a titular role become something that needs to be apologized for?
That said my vote is for a ginger doctor :D

Good point, I would not want them to cast an actor of color or a female just because they felt pressured to do so, it would hopefully be because that person can bring a lot to the part and can do it justice. On another website someone suggested Naveen Andrews (Sayid from 'Lost') as a possibility and it intrigued me and got me thinking of what a Doctor of a different race would be like...I do agree a ginger would be awesome as well though!

    omg, I love that video!

Naveen Andrews is too sexy to be the doctor. I hope it's someone i've never heard of. Matt Smith made it work in the long run.
