Watched the Heat-Bucks tonight, fantastic game. Really an interesting one as the Heat were outscored 83-69 in the second, third and fourth quarter before making a handful of great plays from their big guys to force and eventually win in overtime. Lost in the shuffle was a tremendous game by former UNC guy John Henson who had nearly 20 rebounds.Reading 2004

Is Stern serious? Sanctions against the Spurs because one of the best coaches of all time decides to rest his 3 aging stars when they are playing their 4th game in 5 nights?? I guess coaches can't do what is best for their teams anymore. What an asshole. The best part is that it turned out to be a great game....too bad the Spurs scrubs came up just short against the Heat.0 -

thing is tho ... there are more tactful ways of doing it ... why the necessity to rest them ALL at once ... why not sit a different guy on different nights? ...
on another note - the C's looking like a bunch of douches ... first - a ridiculous overreaction on a KG flop ... especially from a guy who's notorious for hard fouls ... then the hook on the guy's leg just shows how little respect kg has for some players ...0 -

The coach did what he thought was best for his team. Resting 3 veteran players on the last night of a long road trip and 4th game in 5 nights.0 -

i'm not against it myself personally ... i do think that it sets a bad precedent ... if i pay to see a game involving the lakers and they sent kobe, nash and howard home ... i would feel totally gypped ... if the 4 games in 5 nights and long season are an issue ... he could have easily rested a different player a different night ... or faked an injury or something ... but when you do it the way he did ... he is essentially provoking a response ...0 -

I hope so. It's pretty lame for Popovich to pull that crap. No need to sit all of them and it's not like they're resting up for a late season run. It's 25 games into the season. It's really a choad move imo. Not saying fans are Stern's #1 priority, but I'd be pretty pissed if it was the one game of the year I decided to attend. Imagine if every other team started doing it as well.0 -

I see it from the fans point of view. Although, I'm not sure all the Heat "fans" even know who Duncan, GInobli, and Parker are.
I just don't see how you can penalize a team or coach when he rests his veteran players because he thinks that would be best for the team. He has done this several times in the past. For Stern to make a big stink about it just because it was a national TV game vs. the Heat is a bullshit move.0 -
