Shame on McDonalds...

No wonder there is an obesity epidemic...

After seeing a movie tonight (limitless for those of you playing at home) me and a mate went to get a thick shake, I was a little hungry too as I hadn't had dinner...

SO I ordered my shake and a mighty Angus burger and she says 'You know it is cheaper if you actually buy chips as well'

So I bought the tasty little fuckers, saved myself a bit of money and shortened my life by a couple of weeks.... But it got me thinking... There should be some sort of law against that making it cheaper to sell more food... It really is encouraging obesity

And for the record... I ate and enjoyed every last chip...

As someone who currently could stand to lose some weight, I don't blame McDonalds or whatever at all. Eating shit food was my choice, and I take full responsibility for it.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Oh look I agree with you to an extent... Sure what food people eat is their choice... But If you have a weight problem, you don't need more food being cheaper... Just means you eat more...

And yes I know I didn't have to say yes to the chips, and yes I didnt have to walk through the doors... But surely someone gets my point....

Why? Obesity isn't just a physical problem, it is just as much mental. If you make unhealthier food more accessible then we will get unhealthier people... Simple really

    mcdonalds should overprice everything, right?

its the same thing like buying deck furniture. cost you less to buy the whole set than buying most of it individually.

this isn't an obesity issue. it's good business.

people making the choice to even go to mcdonalds in the first place is an obesity issue dude.

If someone just wants to save money ie. 'make it cheaper', agree to the chips (french fries), then toss them or give them to someone else instead of eating them - you still get the cheaper deal.

Trust me, as a now clean and sober alcoholic/drug addict, I know full well its not about will power. It is , as you say, more mental obsession. In fact, the physical need for it is more easily dealt with than the mental obsession.

There are actually more subway outlets in the world then mcdonald's restaurants.

But yeah I hate seeing kids who don't know any better wolfing down a burger at Maccas with their fat parents. I know I eat too much Maccas sometimes, but I don't let my kid have it. if we go anywhere were we know we'll be out for lunch or dinner we always make lunch for the kid before we go and she'll have her sandwich and fruit and shit while I scoff down my quarter pounder. She may have a few fries, but that's about it. She's never asked for even a bite of a burger.

Maybe I'm just a mean parent for not letting my kid eat shit food just to get a shitty piece of crap happy meal toy.

Once I was at the cricket and there was this family of obese people sitting in front... The kid was knocking back chips lollies (and so were the parents). The kid wanted another packet of chips and the mum said 'You have to eat a sandwich first' The little rolley polley had a hissey fit and eventually gave in... I was thinking it must have been some sort of salad sandwich... But no.... A chicken Schnitzel...

Well I will attempt to answer your question.... Simply my opinion... so...

What you can not deny is that for some people, eating is an addiction. And I would say for obese people that would be a high percentage. And when a high percentage of the population is obese then I think it would be safe to assume that a large percentage of people are addicted to eating. And when you make more unhealthy food easily accessible then it is not helping these people with an eating addiction.

If you have the will power to say no... Like it appears that you, like so many others here appear to have, then you needn't worry.

And alcohol of course it should... I love a drink, but alcohol related violence and incidence is on the rise so it should be strict...

no. "pain management clinics" hand out highly addictive prescription meds ordered by unscrupulous Dr.'s without any sort of thorough diagnosis. Alcohol producers are just as bad. Making alcoholic energy drinks? WTF??!?!?!

As an alky, its not for me to say YOU cant have ready access to imbibe as you see fit. My alcoholism isnt your problem to deal with. its mine. The fact that I would abuse script meds and street drugs isnt your problem to deal with either. That one is on me too. As another poster stated , PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

As for walmart. I'm gonna leave that one alone. I resent your sweeping genalization. You dont know where I reside, what MY views are related to this subject. Take that shit and this entire thread to AMT where it belongs.

BTW , we were following the logic in your opinion, bud.

Hot girls work at McDonalds? Since when?

Last time I ate there was about a year ago. I was in the mood for garbage. It was pretty nasty. I guess it is a matter of what you are used to. I usually eat a burger once every month or two, but they are high quality. It is like beer for me, ever since I started drinking the good stuff (micro breweries and the Belgian abbey beers) I have a hard time drinking mass produced generic stuff.
Still can't believe I met Mike Mccready at the Guggenheim and got a pic with him!!!!!

Exactly mate... I wonder how I am supposed to respect the thoughts and feelings of others, when clearly my thoughts here were not respected... I expressed an opinion that got shot down in flames. The old one rule for one, another for another.

I freely admit what I posted about walmart was a massive generalisation... and may not be entirely appropriate so I apologise.
