Even if you simplify what's in the parenthesis first, you then have a 12 within the parenthesis. THEN you go left to right because you only have multiplication and division which are of equal operator precedence: 48÷2x(12)=48÷2X12 so its: 1) 48÷2=24 then 2) 24x12=288 ∎

Incorrect. you do inside the parenthesis first and then multiply the 2 next to each other first, as it is an implied parenthesis. ie:

48÷2(9+3) = 48÷[2(9+3)] = 48÷[2(12)] = 48÷24 = 2
