    i know there is that implication of multiplication before the parentheses

    but if you follow the order of operations aren't you forced to figure the problem inside the parenthesis first and then the interaction with THAT before you work the rest of the problem?

    You ALWAYS do what ever is in the brackets first. Then the other calculation. If there is no symbal between the numbers and the bracket that means you multiple the first part (48/2) with the second (9+3)

    You answer whats inside the bracket, then you answer what's outside the bracket, and then you multiply the two answers.
