Looking forward to the preparty. Does anyone know if there's any tailgating other than the preparty? Just trying to figure if I have enough money for ~4 hours of beers and food... been a very expensive month!
Staying at the Hartford Hilton, anybody know what the walk will be like from hotel to pre-party, to the venue, back to hotel..thanks.

I've been watching all week. It changes daily. Right now, I'd say were safe. From what I saw this morning, it looks like maybe 40% chance of rain..in the early morning....by noon we should be in the clear. Lets everyone just hope for rain on Friday...If it rains on Friday, we probably have a better chance for dry skys on Saturday. Either way, a lil rain never hurt nobody

Maybe -- will depend on things like CT traffic (  ) and whether or not we can bring in our underage young men.
Traffic heads-up for people like me who will be driving up from NY/NJ: CT traffic is the worst we have encountered anywhere. We drive to Boston at least once/year, and we have gone to Hartford the last two years for the marathon. Hartford should be a three-hour drive for us, but it routinely takes five or six hours, and last October it took us EIGHT hours to make the drive. It was not just us: a number of people got caught in traffic and missed the pre-race registration and expo.
We plan to be on the road before noon tomorrow, and frankly I am not sure that we will get there in time. As in, I am seriously thinking about leaving tonight or at 6:00 tomorrow morning. It can be that bad.

How the hell can it possibly take that long? Are you coming up I95? The stretch of I95 from New Haven to I395 in Niantic should be the only part of the drive that could potentially give you problems. But Im thinking that because its a Saturday, that traffic shouldnt be that bad... :?

We come across the Tappan Zee, through NY into CT. Last time there was no quick way to go -- tried avoiding 95, tried everything. Back-ups were everywhere. We left the house before 10:00 on a Friday, thinking we would safely miss rush hour. We hit CT and traffic just stopped. It has been like that every time we have made the drive, last time just was a few hours worse.
Now, driving south through CT on Sundays we have had few problems, but northbound is a nightmare.

Good luck. Im optimistic tomorrow wont be as bad as a week day. Worst case scenario, you can always get off I95 and get onto the scenic Route 1, which runs parallel to 95. Pick up 95 again in Niantic just to put you right onto I-395. By that point you should only be about an hour away, and it should be relatively smooth sailing once you hit 395 till you hit the Hartford traffic.

You will be fine on a Sat.
Although that stretch of 84 between waterbury and southington can be a bitch in the middle of the day.
Coming from Rockland? Unfortunately, 84 is easiest, but you could pick up the merrit over by westchester airport. I have not yet decided how I will go from Westchester.
Im not sure why you think it will take 5 hours. Ive gone to every PJ show in Hartford for the last 5 years or so, and while it has taken a little longer with traffic, never 5 hours.
I take Parkway to Tapenzee to 84 to 684.
Hope to see you all there! IM very excited!!!!

Well, I think it could take five hours because it always has -- except for last time, when it took eight. There were other folks driving to Hartford from northern NJ for the marathon, and they did not get in until 11:00 p.m. And yeah, we tried all the highways that run parallel, still it was a mess. Usually things clear up once we are north of New Haven - -not last time.
Mapquest, et al. insist it's a three-hour trip, but like I said it only has been three hours when driving south on Sunday morning. Hmm. Well, actually we had a nice easy drive north once -- on Thanksgiving.
Seriously, I hope I'm wrong this time, but I'll be a basket case until we actually are within walking distance of the theater. I would love to arrive in time to leave our stuff at the hotel and get some dinner.
