Even though Pearl jam became part of my life way before I met my husband (11 years before actually) I have Pearl Jam to thank for meeting my wonderful husband.
I posted one day on 2002 when we were still on the BBS boards, it was a thread trying to find more people in my area in Fort Lauderdale and my Mike posted back though I didn't really pay much attention at first because he was in miami and that was just WAY to far - LOL
I had a get together at my house with a friend to watch PJ videos and she asked if she could bring a friend, this guy "i am a donut" from the board and I said sure why not?
Well that day he came over to watch videos and stuff and it was love at first sight!
We started dating about a couple of weeks after, this was October 2002, travelled to Seattle together on December for the Showbox and key Arena shows and got married on March of 2003.
We have been married now for almost 6 years and have a beautiful 4 year old son.
I'm thankful to Pearl Jam for many things, the years of music and the number of friends including my BFF, but most than anything I'm thankful because it was their music that created the opportunity for me to meet the love of my life
How's that for a cheesy story? :D

Urs,
I love this story... I can only hope for the same one day:)

Pearl Jam has provided me a Soundtrack for my life for the past 16 years. They changed my scope on music, made me a concert lover, and besides my wife, they are the only being who I can spend over $1,000 in a month on, and still be happy.
I would like to thank Pearl Jam for not coming to play live in New Zealand for ten years. And for the fact that they have only been in NZ twice to play live, ever. Even when they were in Australia, which really isn't too far from little ole NZ.
Why on earth would I be grateful that Pearl Jam haven't been to NZ for ten years???!!!
Because I know, with conviction, that when they do return (here's hoping it's 2009) well, THAT concert (or possibly concerts as I cant imagine missing out on any) is going to be utterly indescribable.... completely making up for their absence. Their very loooong, relatively unexplained absence.
Actually I guess it's closer to eleven years now, as it was end of feb '98.
But seriously, all jokes aside, I feel like I owe PJ quite a debt, as they have helped me, through their music, to make some pretty epic decisions in my life. For that, I am grateful. It's an odd thing, because on one hand I realise I don't actually know any of them. On the other hand, their music has become a close personal friend! That's pretty awesome.
So I look forward to seeing my mates here in 2009! Eternally hopeful!!
I'm thankful for Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder, through his voice and lyrics, letting me figure out who I truly am as a singer, son, brother, boyfriend, and all around person. Thank you so much.

Getting my mother and myself through her battle with Breast Cancer. We would listen on those extra tough days to Alive....I know that is not what Ed had intended, but I'm glad to say "SHE'S STILL ALIVE YEAH!!!" To top it off we went to New York in 2003 for my 25th and her 50th B-Days just a couple months after her clean bill of health and got front row tickets to MSG night 1 the day of show!! It's a time of our life we will never forget and of course the show dreams are made of....i am forever in debt to Pearl Jam for their inspiring music!!
I'm thankful for Pearl Jam, because their words, and their music, got me through the toughest thing I have ever had to face. The death of my father, in 2005. Eddies words, his baritone voice, gave me a sense of comfort, through his lyrics. There would be nights, I cried myself to sleep, while listening to come back, and Release, and this sense of, "your not the only one" came over me. And I just realized how much I can relate to this band. Losing my father, was the worst thing I have ever faced, and this band helped me over come the feelings of being lost without him. When you are sad, or feeling down in general, being able to pop in a cd and it will make you feel better, is just so amazing.
So all in all, Im thankful Pearl Jam gave me feeling of reassurance, that everybody hurts. And one way to heal, is to drift away with their music.

If you want to, go to my posts and look at my very first one from 2004 titled "don't go". They saved my life. Yeah I know that sounds pathetic, but it felt very real!
Thanks!
