Just my top 5 as far as my love for them. Not to be mistaken for my opinion of the top 5 bands of all time.

    1. Pearl Jam...their impact on me changed my life.

    2. The Beatles...I grew up with my family playing their records 70% of the time.

    3. The Who...always knew their songs...but really listened after PJ covered The Kids are Alright in the early 90's. I can't believe I didn't "get it" sooner.

    4. STP...I loved the fat riffs...and they were great live.

    5. Soundgarden...Dark and deep...R.I.P. Chris Cornell's career.

I'm so happy that I was 20 when the 90's "movement" happened. I was really able to appreciate all those great alternative bands...and was pretty much able to see them all live.

They rank 1-10 for me. That is how much above anyone else they are. And there are some other bands I absolutley love. But no one gets near my main boys.
words seem so out of place.

#1 Pearl Jam without a shadow of doubt, but the rest of my top 5? This took much deliberation. Black is number 1 song always.

#2 Nirvana - without them no interest in PJ, they started the downward spiral to awesomeness "You Know You're Right" changed my life.

#3 The Rolling Stones- been listening to them for all 21 years of my life and without the Stones I have no musical footing. Wild Horses is a top 5 song

#4 The Beatles -they're the Beatles, if you don't understand why they are in my top 5 than you have no idea about rock n roll, While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a top 5 song

#5 The Jimi Hendrix Experience - the greatest/most influential guitar player ever along with one of the best rock drummers and quite the talented bassist and Hendrix is a lot better song writer than you'd ever believe, just ask Mike... All Along the Watchtower is a top 5 song

5.01 Pink Floyd - Animals is a brilliant album and arguably their best album, and yes that includes DSotM. I would take Animals over Wish You Were Here and Dark Side, I think the Wall is better than both of those though. David Gilmour gets one of the greatest tones out of his guitar and Roger Waters is a great lyricist. Comfortably Numb is a top 10 song without a doubt and has one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.

5.02 Led Zeppelin - greatest quartet w/o the names John, George, Paul and Ringo in it. Jimmy Page may be the greatest riff writer in history.

5.03 Authority Zero - a small surf/punk/rock band out of AZ that puts on a great show and is some of the greatest dudes I have ever met, their lead singer is one of the nicest down to earth musicians.
    32 shows and counting...

you wouldn't be on this board if you didn't love them..but HOW MUCH do you love them??

1 Led Zeppelin ( they edge out PJ only by a smidgen! Jimmy Page is the master..sorry Mike ;))

2 Pearl Jam (a lot closer to first than second!! This is MY BAND and I'm not afraid to scream it from the tallest mountain/rooftop "I LOVE PJ!!" :D)

    3 Alice in chains

4 Pink Floyd (dark side of the moon is the best complete album ever made IMO)

5 RATM (i wish they would write some new shit and release a new album..it's only been close to a fucking decade now!!)

    They place number one.

Also saw the Stones - which in my humble opinion are the most over rated band in the history of Rock.

THANK YOU!! I feel the same way about the Stones..whenever i hear them referred to as the greatest rock 'n roll band of all time i get really pissed off!! Led Zep blows them so far out of the water it's not even funny!! I also think PJ is waaayyyyyyy better than the Stones as well.I do listen to some of their old stuff but i have to agree that they are over rated.

TOOL is amazing live. Saw them 3 times last year. They don't mix up the sets like PJ, but a lot of creativity with lights and backgrounds. They rock.
