My son, Caleb is tomorrow and I feel old. I took him to see Green Day & he loved it.
My youngest is 4. He likes Ac/dc-back in black & Michelle by the beatles.
He also likes Kesha and Katy Perry though...(wife's influence)
He is only 4 so I can't start brainwashing him to love Pearl Jam yet (Can I?)
Sure you can. I had my kids listening to Bob Marley and the Grateful Dead from the time the older one was three and the younger one just a baby. Then we graduated to the Clash and the Foo Fighters; my younger son loved to "fight Foo" in his car seat, with the Foo Fighters playing LOUD. I tried to go easy on the PJ for a while, because of some of the language, but eventually I gave up; we have taken the boys to six of the seven shows we have attended, starting in 2008 (younger son was nine at the time). All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -

pj20 says it for you.

I noticed I was getting older at the Soundwave festival I went to last weekend. There were stages set up all over the place and I noticed the youth were always walking the opposite way to me all the time. They were going to see the bands I'd never heard of while I was seeing The Melvins and I was actually using the free sunscreen!!!! That's not the worst of it though, I actually got a headache through One Day as A Lion and I actually caught myself yawning!!!! It was midday!!!!!!

You're not getting old until you have to pre-game with Advil before the concerts. That's what I have to do now!You can't be neutral on a moving train.0

When I'm in the car with my 3-year-old and a song comes on the radio, he'll ask me "Is this Pearl Jam?" so yeah, you totally can start now...
This whole PJ20 thing has been bittersweet for me, hard to believe it's been 20 years since I graduated college, fell in love with PJ, and met my husband. 91 was a hell of a year!0 -

), but I love when I talk to younger PJ fans and say that I went to a PJ show back in '93.....they always look at me in awe and say how awesome it must have been. I absolutely love that I got to live my teen years in the grunge era!
I turned 36 in Feb...and I had the same thought...how lucky was I to be in my late teens/early 20's as the music scene exploded with some great bands in the early 90's!
Show #13 was a lucky one for me....0 -

I don't have kids, but it's never too young to start the brainwashing
My stepdad began brainwashing me with pink floyd when i was about 5 and i'm forever grateful...I think this early brainwashing prevented me from falling into the New Kids on the Block/Tiffany crap that was around when I was a young teenager

My four year old daughter can tell you the members of Pearl Jam (even Boom)
It's never "too young" to brainwash your children, especially when it comes to Pearl Jam. 8-) I am the artist formally known as "Cameron4President"....

The coil thing is my son is getting into them & he is 10 years old. Doesn't love them the same way he loves green day but knows their stuff.
Virtually the same for me, except I'm 37. My 10 year old son's favorite is also Green Day, but the fact that he tells people, "My dad and I have all of Pearl Jam's albums" is pretty cool (he lists Foo Fighters right up there, too).
My 8 year old son is the bigger Pearl Jam fan of the two boys. He got a spray-paint poster of Eddie for his birthday (along with Black Keys concert tix...his third favorite band behind The Who and PJ), which looks nice with the 2006 Cinci concert poster he won at the Columbus pre-party last summer. That was both my sons' first concert.
Actually, saying my sons are 10 and 8 makes me feel equally old!
I know what you mean.

I started brainwashing one of my sons from when he was born, this is how that went
....just enjoying some PJ whenever he gets the chance...

makes me remember when I hade my now 21 yr old daughter in the car listening to the same song
(on cassette) aaah, sweet days
Everyday................is Pearl Jam Day.
Except Sundays, that's Ed day.

My 11 Year old tells me to turn the PJ music down. I am in my mid 40's, & still rockin in the free world.Glen wrote:Going through the checkout at my local supermarket I was wearing a Sydney tour shirt. There's no reason to feel old just because you think Pearl Jam is the bee's knees! Horsefeathers to that notion! I often cut-a-rug to Pearl Jam. . . they're as hotsy-totsy as any band out there! I think they're the cat's pajamas and I don't feel old at all! Actually, I'm on my way down to this spiffy speakeasy right now to listen to them!If hope can grow from dirt like me ...0

Haha Yep happens to me too. Talking to a younger friend about how cool it was going to Lolapalooza and seeing PJ and Soungarden back when I was 18 etc and he says," wow cool, I was 8 years old".... doh! Oh well wouldn't change a thing, we saw it all happen before our eyes. Was a music revolution baby! Gotta go my back is hurting....

I consider myself part of the younger crowd here but I have to say I've got a lot of respect and admiration for some of the "older" crowd here. Seeing PJ in the 90's is something I will never get to experience firsthand, so we "youngin's" rely on you to pass down the awesome tales. And one big HELL YES to all the PJ parents out there... I know mine started me off as early as possible and I'm glad they did

OMG if you lot in your 30s are old then I must be ancient. You may all start calling me grandma..... Not saying how old I am but it's around about the same age as the guys themselves, or at least one of them. Speaking of the guys it's Jeff's birthday today, and also my daughter's 17th. Rapt she has the same date as his.0
