i need an emergency kit but i can't actually afford one all at once. eep. half of nz went through a mad rush to get one after chch's last earthquake. my guess is the second half will do it this time.

Just saw that poor woman who was stuck on top of that building waiting to be taken down! Poor thing! And there was a lady stuck in the window of the Cathedral, she has a broken arm too! So scary seeing all those familiar buildings destroyed and those people so terrified! :(

the footage of that woman being rescued made me cry like a baby. poor woman. that office building was horrendously damaged. and all those poor people are still trapped in there. and it's raining down there and cold. so horrible.

the footage of all those people gathering in the parks is freaky too. you can see how that would be comforting though.

the concert tomorrow night is going to be surreal for qotsa and the wellington audience.

It's going to be a scary pitch black night for all those people still trapped in the buildings.

doompony, this seismologist reckons that there is now an increased chance of a big one hitting Wellington. http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-storie ... e-to-come/ Why am I moving there again? (kidding)

they've been telling us we're going to die any day for years. i think the newsreaders were getting kind of shitty with the seismologists on tv tonight because they were pointing out the painfully obvious. one of them segued out of an interview with "proving it's an inexact science"

fact of the matter is, if they could predict it, they would have. they can't. so... we wait. and hope that all the work put into earthquake proofing the building codes and such protects us.

Queenstown is looking better and better! ;)

What is in an earthquake kit?

some days the same experts say that the hundreds of tiny earthquakes that we can't feel that occur every year are letting off pressure to lessen the chances of the big one happening. it all depends on who you listen to.

earthquake kits generally are sposed to have enough bottled water and non perishable food for 3 days, can opener, gas cooker, torch, radio, batteries, first aid kit, shoes... um.. that's off the top of my head.

i have 2 empty plastic bottles that are on top of my fridge. oops.

Very bad, been watching the news all night.
My thoughts and prayers go out to our Anzac brothers/sisters.
I hope our fellow NZ 10c members are okay.
Poor people died in there vehicles from falling rubble :(
Our local TV presenters talked to a trapped woman via phone, she is trapped under her desk in total darkness calling for help from her mobile.

GOd, Just heard a guy say there was people in the tower at the cathedral when it hit. Now it is just rumble, he suspects they are dead as they can't access it now.

I know there is deaths, I just hope they are at a minimum. SO many trapped...

One guy saw half a tonne of bricks land on a man. People crushed in cars.... not a good site.

My brother-in-law and sister are probably heading in as part of the relief effort. scary shit... waiting to hear from friends still...
