I just want to get a point across here... Jeff and I did an interview in Columbus, Ohio after we played one night... It was for just a college paper but the guys we met, and who talked to us were really cool... I told them I won't do an interview unless we climb upon this ledge thing that was over this water and we did... We had this really great top, and I got in the mail today that interview in the paper, some pictures of us together that were taken... It was really cool and but I was really misled... The letter was telling me how one of the guys had died December 15th in a car accident... Jeff lost a friend as well... Somebody he wrote and shared letters with, and died of a car accident on December 27th... What I am trying to say: I'm just thinking that we don't know what happens after we're here... We don't know... Do you know?... This is all there is... Of all other planets, this is it... This is all there is... So, don't fuck it up... Don't fuck it up with the environment... Don't fuck it up with like mistreating animals and using them for arrest... And, most of all, just appreciate fucking being alive... ~ Eddie Vedder

Obviously, you're active people and altogether we can see and hear what kind of voice you have when united up here... I've got a good, a long time and long-term friend up here... His name's Bob Whittaker... He moved up here from West Seattle... He worked with Mudhoney back in the day, and R.E.M..... The Yeah Yeah Yeahs now... He also lives in Ferry County, and he's a big strong supporter of Rail Trail... He's quite the environmentalist... It's not only in his genes... It's something that still growing... There's a lot of great people working on behalf of the environment... There's more people, maybe not so great, that don't give a fuck about it at all... I'm told that the Spokane County Commissioners, three of them, of a certain affiliation... One is caring about the environment, and maybe a little bit more thinking about the profit margin that human can make with no regard to what it does to the planet and the community that wants to enjoy nature as it stands, while it lasts... And preserve it, and then appreciate it... The point is: Keep your eye on Spokane County and make sure that they're not taking away the rights of the land and that you can speak up for the land before it gets eradicated... If you are reasonable human, which you seem to be from here, then you should run for Spokane County Commission and get these guys out of there... So, this is to you... This is to the planet... This is to all of us, and to the next time we see each other... We'll be thinking about this kind of thing... ~ Eddie Vedder
