Wife is out and baby asleep so I've finally got chance to sit down with a glass of beer and listen to Vault 5. Great boot but Vault 3 remains my favourite by far.

Kitchener 2005, for the second time. I didn't care too much for it on first listen. It was a bit too sloppy, I thought then. This second listen is treating me well, and I've enjoyed it much more. It's not the best 2005 performance, but it's got a relaxed, fun feel. The band were certainly in good moods. Ed says it felt like a small club show. Fantastic version of Save You too.
I was at that show and it was fantastic! I think I was around row 6/7 on the floor in front of stone. The place was so tiny it felt like a club show!
Id love to see them in a place like that. Cville13 is as close as I have got to a smaller venue type show. I finished Kitchener 05 this morning. It's a really fun boot. The guys were definitely loose and having a good time. Just curious, did Ed seem drunk that night? He says he is on the boot, but he may be fuckin around.
ed was wasted that night! He had close to two full bottles of red. Near the end of the show he was falling everywhere and slurring the lyrics!!!

How small is the small venue you talk about, just curious because when they first came to Sydney I saw them at the entertainment centre (holds 13, 250 people). Thanks

Phoenix 2000 Tonight we begin with Long Road-Corduroy-Grievance, where Matt puts out some damn good grooves. His toms are relatively high in the mix at times. That complements his work since he can get tom heavy, I enjoy it. Animal keeps the adrenaline building. Sonically, the entire band sounds incredible. SOLAT makes an early set appearance to good results. The guys are in a tight, energetic groove here, Mike sounds very lively. However, I don't think his guitar is quite in tune in Dissident (it's a little distracting). NAIS sounds much better. Jeff and Matt are perfect in GTF. A trio of Yield is fulfilled with Wishlist and MFC next. I dig these three together, good flow. Interestingly, a solid take on Timeless Melody follows. I've thought for a while that this setlist has a sweet, melodic look to it on paper, the way it's arranged. Listening to it, that is the case.
Insignificance is kicked up a notch with Matt’s toms being high in the mix. The rhythm section between Jeff and Matt is exceptional here. Matt is on fire during Insignificance, an extra energetic play on it. Reiterating that elegant song choice/vibe this one’s got going for it is a beautiful take of Thin Air. The tones and textures of Jeff and Stone are nicely done. This easily transitions into Betterman, with a little Romanza in between for good measure. Ed belts out a long note on Betterman, but the song is tag less (short and sweet). Lukin is really just Ed making scratchy throat noises on the first verse, but it's fun. An effective RVM then sends the main set off. This set moved quickly! Ed's vocals coming out of the RVM jam are harsh but strong, and the jam itself is quite effective; filled with intricacies and darker sounds.
The first encore initiates with a rocking combo of Once-DTE. The former is quite tight, the latter has Mike experiencing some trouble and going absent a few times. Ed makes note of the 10th anniversary of the band coming up the next day. He states he hopes the next show, the Vegas gig, is as good as this one. It's uncommon to have I Got Shit and Long Road in the same show, and this play on I Got Shit is top notch, Mike and Matt putting out exceptional work. I dug Mike’s effects quite a bit. Therefore, both Merkinball tracks are golden tonight! Crazy Mary to follow IGS is a kind of a dark sounding combo, and it's enjoyable. The solo on Crazy Mary certainly reiterates that vibe, and I loved Stone’s crunchy tone. Moving to a folky feel is Small Town. I Got Shit-Crazy Mary-Small Town are a great stretch of songs in that arrangement. Baba O'Riley ends the excellent encore. Matt's drum rolls and Ed's scream coming out of the bridge was quite awesome! I enjoyed this encore more than the main set, which in of itself was good too. Encore two is quick, with Soon Forget and Ledbetter. Cool to hear the crowd clapping along loudly to Soon Forget, in time and not throwing Ed off, and producing a good rendition. Mike plays a couple quick Van Halen tags on Ledbetter to send us off.
This one grew on me as it went along, I thoroughly found encore 1 to be wonderful in flow and performance. Some view Phoenix 00 as a warm up gig for the 10th anniversary Vegas 00 show. Personally, I think that undermines it a bit. It's deserving of its own praise as a good, all-around 00 boot. I don't rank it up there with US 00 boots such as Charlotte, Sacramento, Nashville, or Seattle 2, but it's certainly worth a listen if you dig the setlist.

How was your LSSC experience? That looked awesome on TV.
Colbert was incredible. I was second row right in front of the band. Met Mike and Jeff beforehand too. It may be my favorite PJ experience.
