    First show of the 2003 Riot Act North American tour.

    Mid-tempo opener with Love Boat Captain followed by Hail Hail, Save You, Corduroy, Given To Fly and Even Flow ensuring a pretty opening 6 songs. At this point, Thin Air was still making the setlist before the Riot Act trio of Help Help, You Are and I Am Mine. An improv called Don't Drive Me is next which leads into Green Disease. There is a nice little jam for the outro to Wishlist. Ed adds a Dig Me Out (Sleater Kinney) tag into Porch, which ends the main set.

    Thumbing My Way opens the 1st encore with Black to follow. Bu$hleaguer gets it's first performance in America. Daughter & Go end the 1st encore. Soon Forget starts off the 2nd encore. A couple of lines in Ed fucks it up. He gets back on track and doesn't mess up again until just at the end!! Crazy Mary and Rockin' In The Free World end the show.

    Good start to the tour, after listening to the SA '13 boots last week and now onto '03 you notice a huge difference in how quicker they play the songs nowadays. It's nice to hear them a little slower!

    I've gone old OLD with Long Beach, CA Feb 1991 (as Mookie Blaylock).

    Mike is on Fiiiiiiiirrreeeeee but this is enhanced by the taper being so close to Mikes speaker or something because he is very loud and pronounced.

    This show rocks. At certain points if you listen on headphones you can even hear people being very complimentary about "The Lead Guitarist". 8-)

    Long Road eases in followed by Grievance in a unusual 2nd song slot. Ed then does an Oklahoma improv that segues into Corduroy. After Save You, Ed talks about freedom of speech and different ways of say 'fuck'. The next trio of Given To Fly, Dissident and Even Flow is good. Boom is then introduced for I Am Mine and Love Boat Captain. 1/2 Full, Not For You and Off He Goes is an enjoyable section of the main set. Ed gets the crowd to sing the last lines of Small Town. Untitled/MFC then follows after which Ed tells the crowd Mike has blown up one of his guitar amps. While this gets fixed Ed gets the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to his brother Christopher. And then again, this time to Keely, the lightning tech. Next Ed then plays Driftin', which turns into a full band version and is pretty sweet. With Mike's amp now fixed, normal service is resumed and Get Right is next. I love this song on the album but live I feel it doesn't sound all that good. Deep is then played for the first time since San Diego '95. Blood closes the main set.

    Better Man opens the encores, Daughter follows with War tagged on. Rearviewmirror closes the 1st encore. The 2nd encore is extremely - Alive and Yellow Ledbetter.
